Stan Meckler writes a good one! Grass Valley voters! Pay Attention!

Stan Meckler had a letter in the Union this morning and it was right on the money regarding city council candidate Jim Firth.  HERE is the letter. I think Meckler hit a sore spot as I see  the local leftwingnut blogs like Jeff Pelline's are abuzz.  His comm enters like Joe Koyote and sock puppets like Annie Fannie Fox provide good insight into the loony tunes inhabiting his blog and others.

One has to ask though why some people run for office so quickily after they move to an area.  Back in the late 80's a man moved here from the Bay Area and got involved immediately in the Colfax Highway Association.  The Association wanted to stop Caltrans from doing a "safety" project and widening of the Colfax Highway.  Without any history that man got into a pit of discontent because there were many residents that wanted the safety project.  Anyway, it was all for show and became a resume' enhancer for higher office later with the "green" crowd.  It was apparent to me and others that the concern shown about the highway was really fake.

Meckler asks good questions about Firth.  Firth seems to have a lot of problems with the town he chose t move to not that long ago.  Just like the fellow on the Colfax Highway.  But this is America and even a "community organizer" like Firth has the right to run for any office he wants.  We also have the right to point out that we might not want to see people like that elected to run our city or county.  Meckler and perhaps many other residents would like Firth to answer why he has not involved himself in community affairs other than becoming the head of the local leftwingnut democrat party.

Firth has told us what he wants to do with the city and hopefully the voters there will see through him and keep him from being granted their trust.  A person who was a union organizer who was not "for" anything is usually not a good pick for progress. Liberals are not "progressive" as they were defined in the beginning.  They are now "regulators" of almost everything people do or want to do.  More rules to control you.  If you like California Sacramento political and social  values, or San Francisco values, then I guess Firth is your guy.  But if you like Nevada County and Grass Valley values, then you can't let him or his ilk into power here.

Liberals wreak havoc on freedom.  Look what they did to the County General Plan!  Thousands of rules to tell you how you can use your own property.  My goodness, why allow more at the city level?  So read what Firth writes and put it in context of his time here in the city.  Be suspicious of a liberals motives and don't take them at face value.  They are all pretty sneaky and are known to fib extensively.

Read the article by Stan Meckler.  Don't allow people with only their ego as their agenda to take power.  Don't give them a say over  your  tax money and private property.

  1. And the FUE goes crazy and bashes The Union for running a letter by Meckler. If The Union runs anything the FUE doesn't like he goes postal. The FUE rants like a little child in the grocery store that doesn't get ice cream.

It's simple, if you do anything, say anything, write anything or publish anything that the FUE doesn't agree with he has a tantrum. No room for differing views in the FUE's world.

  2. Jim Firth is running for Grass Valley City Council again (he lost the last time he ran). Firth has a long history of trying to stop things, like the wonderful, successful, waterfront San Francisco Giants ball park.

Jim Firth ran the campaign against Proposition B for a privately financed ballpark with no public monies for stadium construction. Prop B won easily with 101,343 votes, or 66 percent, in favor and 51,222, or 34 percent, opposed.

And what did Jim Firth say after his failed efforts to stop the new Giants ballpark?

"It's not over,'' said Jim Firth, who managed the campaign against the ballpark. "They waged a battle, and we waged a skirmish and they won. But this is going to be a long-range war.''

Well we all know how that turned out Mr. Firth. The Giants new world class ballpark is an amazing success, it was the catalyst for redevelopment that transformed the area into a vibrant, successful district of new businesses, housing and jobs. This is what Jim Firth tried to stop. A perfect example of what Jim Forth is about.

Let's also not forget that Jim Firth's work in San Francisco included being Leland Yee's Chief of Staff, something Jim Firth is proud of. Firth says this prepared him for public office!

Jim Firth stated, "My additional work as Chief of Staff to a now discredited politician and former member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors (Leland Yee) provided me with a working knowledge of the legislative process.".

Jim Firth was Leland Yee's right hand man, his Chief of Staff no less, where Firth says he received his "working knowledge of the legislative process". Firth's mentor was Leland Yee and Firth says it prepared him for public office.

Leland Yee, Jim Firth's close friend and former boss was arrested for setting up a deal to buy automatic firearms and shoulder-launched missiles from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, an Islamist extremist group located in the southern Philippines and attempting to re-sell those weapons to an undercover FBI agent. Leland Yee is also changed with other crimes like taking brides.

The link below is one story about Proposition B and Jim Firth.

"It's not over,'' said Jim Firth, who managed the campaign against the ballpark. "They waged a battle, and we waged a skirmish and they won. But this is going to be a long-range war.''

Sorry Mr. Firth, your so called "long-range war" to stop the new Giants ballpark failed, the park was built and it's wonderful.

  3. I wasn't aware that the letter from Meckler opposing a candidate was toxic or "divisive". How would a more reasoned letter opposing Jim Firth look like? It obviously cannot be 'balanced' since Stan opposes Firth. Should Stan Meckler renounce his First Amendment rights as a condition for satisfying the Left's requirements for his being on Union's editorial board?

    2. When you read Jeff Pelline's blog, you can easily infer why he got fired from the Union. The guy sees journalism, not as a public service to inform the public, but a tool to move and change public opinion based on his beliefs. Simply put, his extreme leftwing beliefs did not mesh with the Union and do not mesh with the community at-large. Pelline does not want balance; he wants leftwing propoganda to trump all other beliefs. Those pesky "San Francisco values" do not fly in this conservative county.

I'm Jeff Pelline. a veteran editor and award-winning journalist - in print and online. I'm the publisher of Sierra FoodWineArt magazine and its website SierraCulture.com. I covered business and technology for The San Francisco Chronicle for years, was a founding editor and Editor of CNET News, and was Editor of The Union, a 145-year-old newspaper in Grass Valley. I have a bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley and a master's from Northwestern University. Seems the FUE is a bit selective. What about the $5,000 campaign donation Supervisor/candidate Terry Lamphier took from the south county Rincon Del Rio developer a few short weeks before he voted on the law suite settlement agreement against the developer and the County by the neighbors? Oh, the development project and the developer live in south county, far from Lamphier's district. Why a BIG out of District donation to Lamphier just a few weeks before he voted to help the developer out of the law suite? If an R did this the FUE and the left would still be ranting about it.

Seems the FUE only has issues with donations to R's, Lamphier's "donation" from the developer was THE largest single donation in the entire election. Lamphier took the developers massive donation and six weeks later voted to help the developer out of the law suite.

What about the Measure S folks failing to report their campaign donations? Why has the FUE failed to cover this? What about the Nevada County Dem's Committee getting fined by the FPPC for failing to report donations? Seems the FUE and friends failed to cover this too.

My experience in fundraising is the "common" folks don't give and especially from your own area. I can't explain it but it is true. I was always amazed at the lack of monetary support our locals give. So, in order to pay the exorbitant costs of ads to newspapers, TV and direct mail, and radio, the PAC's are the place to get the dough. Free speech allows it and I support it. Pelline apparently criticizes McClintock but not his guy. Too funny! I bet when Pelline was in the newspaper biz he probably gave not a thought to their ad rates for candidates. Those rates are why only rich and connected can run. It is the hypocrisy of the press once again.

  15. Here's a scoop the FUE has failed to cover. Will he cover it?

Hey FUE, in today's Union newspaper there's a scam letter to the editor supporting Terry Lamphier and Jim Firth for Grass Valley City Council.

This scam letter of support for Lamphier and Firth is by one "Pamela Biery". Biery doesn't live in Grass Valley and can't vote for Lamphier or Firth or anyone else in the Grass Valley city council race.

Now here's the best part, Pamele Biery is being PAID by Lamphier and Firth to work on their city council campaigns! Ms. Biery failed to disclose this in her scam letter of support that ran in The Union today, but this was disclosed in the same type of "press release" that just ran on Yubanet, here's the link:

    http://yubanet.com/regional/Pamela-Biery-If-I-Could-Vote-for-Grass-Valley-City-Council.php#.VEE272d0yMY

This is a scam letter from a person that can't even vote for Grass Valley City Council, a person being paid by Lamphier and Firth to work on their campaigns!

What a scam, what a crock, what will the FUE do now?

Will the self proclaimed "middle of the road" FUE cover this BS or will he ignore this and run cover for his buddies on the left?

This will be a good test for the FUE. If Pelline fails to cover this it will confirm he's Nevada County's Biggest Hypocrite.

This also shows Lamphier and Firth are working together in this election, no surprise.

Pelline posted a rant about what he calls self serving, pro right members of The Union editorial board writing candidate support letters.

In this case we have a paid campaign person working for Lamphier and Firth submitting a support letter to The Union and failing to disclose the truth.

    2. You may have it right. A court case becomes public documents and maybe "discovery" would let all the people of the community know exactly what happened? My guess is this is all about a touchy ego and a person who feels above the rest of us peons. But the truth will out as they say. What a hoot!!

Oh, I think there is a local yokel cartoonist who has done one on the fellow. He also did me as the devil! I was honored!

  28. As a former "associate" of the person in question, I can say that I and many fellow employees would be happy to testify about working with this person. Jeff Ackerman was, and still is, loved by the staff. Other fellow, I'll save it for the trial if he is that foolish which he isn't. He can't be unclear about how people felt about him. Let it go Dude. You created your reputation, no one did it to you.

There is no story here if you read it. The law was followed. Angry, foul mouthed people.

Good lord Gloria....you defend Greg Diaz like a teenaged girl defending her boyfriend! He's the clerk-recorder for god sakes...you're correct though in one respect.....you are so petty because the stakes are so small!

      Clerk-Recorder.......yawn.

  32. According to Diaz last week "As a result, the vote-by-mail ballots and sample ballot booklets were received by the West Sacramento Post Office on October 14, 2014 for delivery". Well that turns out to be false. Sample ballots never went to Sacramento. Some body cant keep the story straight.

    1. Pelline donated $500 to Mr. Diaz so he ust have a in for the scoop! The history of that office has been jerky at best. When I became familiar with the office many years ago they were screwed up then and it seemed like we could never get the results of our local elections until the next day. Hell, LA was election night!

Anyway, Pelline should find out for the rest of us what the unbridled truth on this delay is all about. But that might be too exhausting. Maybe his chubby pal Steve Frisch could help if he is not out of breath! Too funny!

  35. Greg Diaz cannot find 10 pallets of voter pamphlets and even LAMPHIER and FIRTH are pissed at him. But it is not Diaz fault, it is ProVote. How come ProVote only screws up Nevada Counties ballots and nobody elses. Pelline is in the bag for Diaz, no balance with Cartman.

    1. You sure can tell the bias of Pelline regarding Diaz or any lib for that matter. Now he is attacking Pruett with a long diatribe but Barry is not even elected or in charge of anything for the voters! I think Pelline has become unhinged and transferred his hate from Ackerman to Pruett. What a hoot!

    2. No Bubba just realized that Diaz is disliked by a vast majority of folks on both sides of the poltical spectrum. Pelline discredits himself by actively supporting someone everyone else knowws can't do his job.

  36. My guys are all going down in flames! My Boy Diaz can't do anything right. I sure hope he doesn't run for re-election. That will be ugly. How can I support a guy who apparently can't do the job. My candidates Lamphier and Firth are both embarrassing me also. How in the world am I going to get a guy who couldn't even get the support of his fellow Supervisors, elected to the Grass Valley City Council? He clearly does not like Grass Valley, and even worse, he got fired from the Planning Commission. How am I going to fix that? And Firth, OMG, that guy actually brags that he learned his politics from the guy being prosecuted by the State for all kinds of things! What am I supposed to do about that? How will I take over Grass Valley with candidates like this? This is pathetic. I'm going back to Berkeley. Or maybe I will stay, and have my way with Nevada City! Bruiser, get my poncho, I'm going to town! LOL!

  37. OK you Good Old Boys! I have declared on my other blog, you know, the one that no one reads, because they are all here! I might have to admit that everyone prefers Aqua Velva Man to Tub O Lard Man. Anyway, I have declared that I, the TRUE FUE, am looking for a real leader for our community. I want to be perfectly clear however (something I don't dare do on my other blog), that this new leader must be a "Purple Democrat Middle of the Road leader, like me. And it should be understood that this new leader must kiss my ring, and do my bidding because, as everyone knows, I am an award winning journalistwho used to fetch coffee for Herb Caen. In exchange for your groveling servitude, I might write brilliant articles about you, and get you elected to the best job you have ever had. Just ask my friends Greg Diaz, Terry Lamphier, and Jim Firth. Can you say inept, incapable, and indict? I am the Kingmaker of Nevada County! Just don't tell Bruiser. LOL!
