CABPRO

FUE
Who is this obese fellow?
It has come to my attention that the organization I created and ran starting in 1993 is in the midst of some problems.  The organization lasting over twenty years seems to be the victim of a power struggle.  I read the letters and lawsuits flying back and forth and though I am still proud of CABPRO, I am disappointed there is this strife.

When I was a County Supervisor from District One, the county was in the throes of what I called, the "landuse wars".  The left was trying to stop everything that was being proposed and the rest of us were trying to build for the future.  Whenever we had a project in front of us in the eighties, the left would show up en masse and scream and name call the proponents of most every project.  Always against, never for.  I was disappointed in those days that even the Chamber of Commerce organizations would let the project proponents hang in the wind (and the NCBA).  When I chose not to run for a third term I decided I had to help people who were always being attacked by the liberals.  What to do?

I started CABPRO from whole cloth to assist.  It was very tumultuous in the nineties since a concerted effort was being made by no-growth people to hijack the County General Plan update.  After I left the Board, these people actually were able to do exactly that.  The Update became an "overhaul" and all hell broke loose.  There were hundreds of hearings and I attended most of them.  Speaking up for property owners I thought were being screwed by the "overhaul".  This was a tough thing since usually I was the only person there helping the property owner get his point across.  The liberal no growth people could always show up since the income they derived was mostly from government and/or growing the ganga.

Over the years, CABPRO grew and membership was very large.  The office at Robinson Timber became a meeting place for many Constitutional people.  We advertised ourselves as "non profit" as we never made a dime of it.  Some loons from the left try and make that quip as some sort of legal problem.  Too funny.  We were formed as a membership organization because our members wanted anonymity.  We see what the left does when they find out who members are.  They cry, sue and boyctt. See Prop 8 initiative petioners as an example. Or the Rush Limbaugh contrived controversy in 2012.  Our system was fine and legal unlike Truckee organization that politics with tax free money.

The Board of Directors changed many times over the years and I always believed that was a good thing.  New members, new blood, new ideas, new interests.  The issues were pretty steadfast though.  Constitutional issues, lower taxes, less government regulations.  I think the Tea Party stole our creed and purpose (just kidding Mark).  So now we see some angst and some conflict within the organization.  It does trouble me but I believe the reason these things happen is simple.  You have to change sometimes and sometimes that is not easy or pretty.  I Hope the opposing sides to all this can bury the hatchet and realize that CABPRO is bigger than the sum of its parts.  It has a good purpose and hopefully all of the participants will put aside the problems of "who" is in charge and keep a voice for those who need CABPRO's help.

UPDATE February 10, 2014

I see the usual suspects from the left are making some noise about all this.  Of course they have no idea about anything regarding CABPRO.  But like all the liberals we read, that doesn't stop them.  Steve Frisch of the mis-named Sierra Business Council has placed his organization in jeopardy with his libel and slander on a local blog.  He even refuses to release the names of his Board Members because if they found out about his words that put them at risk he would probably be asked to adios.  He is just a chicken shit.

The Pelline moved here and immediately started dissing all the locals and then wonders why no one likes him.  Delusional?  Probably.

There may be three or four comm enters on his blog, but he claims he is some sort of important person here.  Too funny.  I think a wart is more popular with the folks.  Anyway, life goes on but I do enjoy the soap opera these liberals try and keep going.

  1. For some reason ThePelline thinks he has a "scoop" about the goings on at CABPRO. I have known this for a while but chose to allow it to play out in private. The filing of court documents was also known to me. For him to claim a "scoop" is too funny. Go back to sleep.

  2. Todd, that's because JP gloats about the possible destruction of anything that disagrees with his take in life. Your little history lesson above is right on. Remember all of it well. More and more I've noticed that within organizations there are those whose first priority is to promote themselves rather than the purpose. And sometimes I wonder if there are outside influences that use these people to destroy the organization. Who knows....Hope all goes well.

  3. BMW, thanks, you get it.

I was directed to a comment theFrisch made about my quip on the non profit issue (notice no hyphen or connection). Of course, you have to understand that he is claiming some sort of outrage on a "ethical" level. He is the fellow who did not send in the taxes withheld from his employees from the restaurant he owned. He was leined by local, state and federal for six figures. How ethical is it for a employer to do that to his employees? Can that person be believed when he claims "moral" outrage? I think not.

You really have the emotional level of a pubescent boy, it is embarrassing. An Ed Peritz is a veteran who is very well informed on political history and decent human being. We all know what I feel about your online persona.

    3. What an asinine comment. Regarding intelligence, you couldn't comprehend Ben's, or mine's either, which is why I don't bother to comment here anymore. But I know whatever I write on the blog that has articulate and intelligent contributors, Pelline's, you will read or be told to read. And not only am I nutty and a wimp, according to you, I'm dripping with PTSD and you'd learn a thing or two if you tried to play the bully with me, face to face. How dare you consider yourself a Christian; false pride for sure.

    4. Ed Peritz, you are a nut. One only needs to read your bloviations and know you make up most of hat you write. You should get "niceness" help.

Now that's pretty good Todd....I know some pretty sharp kids who are just entering adolescence. I have on occasion and with some justification accused Ben of having the worldview of an 8 year old girl.....you know.... all Justin Bieber and Sparkle Pony.

I would consider Bens comment more compliment than zinger.

    2. You have certainly demonstrated the level of intelligent and germane dialogue which dominates this blog. About seven comments were directed at JP weight; a few more calling me a loon who makes things up, yet, which SOP, no examples or evidence is presented supporting your yapping.

It's obvious you have no idea how to do proper research, nor how to integrate sources into a meaningful, thought provoking essay. Specifically, your lame old charge of others just "copying and pasting" what they write, before the Internet such action existed in the in the form of foot notes, end notes and the Bibliography. I suspect the sources you rely on don't even have this citations. You think a fact is what ever spills from your mouth, or prose, though it is mere opinion and assertion sans evidence.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous, I'd stick with that by-line as your comments contribute nothing but chaff to discussions. What is needed in you last, inane comment is examples of how/why JP "could not cut it in the 'journalistic field, or at the Union." And calling him a dick is typical of the penetrating wisdom offered here. Next time, try to write sentences that make sense; after all, language is meant for clear communication of ideas. In this regard, your prose is mere, mental junk food.

...and about all the comments at Pellines site denigrate the opinions, intellect and motivations of those who refuse to join the consensus regarding topics at hand over there. Insults are part and parcel of blogging....time for Buttercup to suck it up!

    5. Ed Peritz has it all backwards as usual. We all have opinions and we all have our sources of information. It is clear EdP never reads anything with a conscious though. BenE admitted he cuts and pastes so tyhat is settled EdP. Pelline is overweight as is theFrisch and why is that a problem to point out? He calls me and others "extremists" so if you don't want someone pointing out your traits then perhaps shutting your trap is in order.

I have chewed up and spit out much smarter people than you EdP. I have debated and made fools of liberals and they are all the same. They cry like babies and whine. Stop whining. Sheesh!

  15. Mr. Pelline now wants us to believe that those who don't agree with him are extremists who will scare away tourism and future settlers. I remember the extremists who swarmed out of San Francisco into our area to steal our treasures just like in the song "One Tin Soldier." BMW

He doesn't, neither do you... again though the experts are divided so let's not judge too harshly.

I think in this day and age citation by pasted link is a reasonable surrogate for more formal attribution. I've never seen you claim any of these as your own. Point Emery.

  20. Ed Peritz, the big critic of my facts and a self proclaimed "purist" stated on a competing blog this sentence

"money is the root of all evil"

But wait! That is untrue. Timothy 6:10 is where this resides and Timothy says,

" For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

So, it is the love of money. Hmmm. This factual error by EdP is very telling. He and Ben Emery are decrying the Citizens United decision where money was determined to be the same as speech. I guess even those self described "smartie pants" make errors. Too funny.

  21. Todd,
"take (the work or an idea of someone else) and pass it off as one's own."

The key phrase in this sentence is PASS IT OFF AS ONE'S OWN.

Any time I use an excerpt from a source I either give the link, name of the title, or name of the author. I do not use the work of others as my own.

Let me ask you Todd, do you know the stories of Horus, Zarathustra, Dionysus, and Buddha? My guess you do but through a different story with a different main character that came around long after these stories were contemporary.

  23. Communism is just another name replacing aristocracy that gives everything to the rulers at the expense of the peasants. It makes it sound like the redistribution of wealth where all share equally, but those in power can destroy anyone they want.
