Roberts may have done American conservatives a favor?

I know, I know, today's decision flies in the face of freedom.  Or does it?  Could the 5-4 decision by the Supreme Court actually be a opportunity to really get America back on track?  I have been reading opinions all over the place and this one by David Horowitz may be the one I can agree with.  It is tough pablum to take since most of us listened to Roberts confirmation hearings and we believed him.  We thought we were getting a Scalia2 and I recall being so ecstatic that we would see a dismantling of the abuse of the Commerce Clause.  And guess what?  We have it in part in this decision on Obamacare today.

So, Roberts pulled a Roe v Wade on us witha ropa-dope but maybe we can make lemonade out of lemons.  David Horowitz said this today.

"Politically speaking there couldn’t have been a better Supreme Court decision. If Obamacare had been declared unconstitutional, the Democrats’ campaign in November would have been those horrible Republicans have politicized the Supreme Court and denied affordable healthcare to everyone. The focus would be on the court’s “unfairness.” The Democrats would have a plausible if unfair case (and in politics lack of fairness is a given). Advantage Democrats. Advantage because the last things they want to talk about are Obamacare and taxes. And that’s the second big plus from this decision. The focus – thanks to Justice Roberts – is going to be on the biggest tax increase in human history on everyone, not just the rich. And on the lies of Obama which dwarf those of Clinton. Obama promised no tax hikes on the middle class and then defended Obamacare before the Supreme Court as …. a tax.

As for the constitutionalists. Roberts’ argument makes sense to me. Yes the power to tax is the power to destroy, but it’s in the Constitution. So this decision doesn’t really change anything constitutionally. If you don’t like Obamacare, the remedy is to repeal it. Let the elections begin."

So there it is.  The election.  If we want to save America we have to turn out the democrats and send Obama back to Al Capone's city.  There is the dirty little secret I gleaned from the SCOTUS decision.  They reigned in the Commerce Clause (but do we really trust that?) and let Obama and the democrats give us all, and I mean all, Americans, the largest tax increase in the history of the planet.  So, all you giddy democrats and unaligned middle of the road purple people, guess what?  You are going to get a huge bite ripped from your hands, you know, your hard earned buckos, and there is nothing you can do about it.  Oh, maybe there is, get out and vote and toss the scofflaws out on their left cheeks never to be heard from again.  Save America and vote this November.

  2. Just read this from a former law clerk to Roberts. Maybe he is smarter than everyone thinks.

"Making the mandate a tax has at least one other effect. It makes repeal easier. Now that the mandate has been deemed taxation, it can likely be jettisoned through use of the reconciliation process — meaning the Senate will need to muster only a bare majority for repeal, not 60 votes."
