No sooner did I put this blog up than I started getting threats and complaints from the extreme leftwingnuts of Nevada County. They are obviously threatened by the thought of a conservative view so they try and intimidate people into staying away. Well, we will see. I created this blog to give conservatives another avenue to state their case. Like Obama and the rest of the socialist philosophers in America, our local LWN (leftwingnuts) will do and say anything to convince people conservatives should be marginalized. Well listen up, the tsunami of freedom is coming and the LWN's are going to be fish food in November. I have dealt with these kinds of liberals for over thirty years and they will stop at nothing to get their way. Their way will be history soon.
I like Michelle Malkin's thinking and check out her homepage here . She is one of the sharpest analyzers of the liberal.
Updated 10-12-2011.
I was looking back and came across this early post and it seems the more things change the more they stay the same. It looks like my view of what would happen in the November 2010 election came true. It looks like my view of the local LWN's is also true. They are as rabid as ever. Local socialists are trying to compete with the Tea Party and will be protesting the Wall Street Bankers and the 99% who they say are the victims of the 1% they say who has all the money. I think these locals have smoked too much weed and their brains are shrunken. Almost 50% of Americans pay no federal income tax but receive most of the budget handouts. The left should just claim victory, go home and watch Oprah. We on the right are trying to fight back and get the powers that be to get out of the way of our Constitutional Rights. The left wants more government, we want less.
So, the Tea Party is now being used by these socialists as a comparable movement when there is no comparison, except maybe in the opposite direction. We want freedom from so much government while the freeloaders on the left want more and they want our money too. I have said for years the left gets their way because they never give up and they come back year after year to finally get their policies turned into laws. We on the right are busy working and raising families, overseeing our businesses where our capital in at risk. We usually y have no time to march over to the overpass and spew socialist and communist mantra and slogans. The leftwing is nostalgic for the old days of the Chicago riots and college protests. We are nostalgic for people to become responsible for their own actions and to get the government out of my business, my home and my bedroom.
The best disinfectant is light...

ReplyDeleteWell now you're putting limitation on me right out of the gate. I wanted to talk to you about precinct captains - what's involved in it? Have you ever been one?
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to having to use one's real name? As one who uses his real name, and occasionally pays the price, I wonder about the anonymous post and nome de guerre used above.
ReplyDeleteI know your posts papertiger. Fire away. I'll bend my own rules for you.
ReplyDeleteSo even your masthead is a lie?
ReplyDeleteI thought you were in DC looking for a handout?
ReplyDeleteTodd,
ReplyDeleteLet me get this straight:
You say "You must use your real name."
Somebody named "Papertiger" posts and you write: "I'll bend my own rules for you."
What kind of policy is that?
-Pelline
Soooo what you're saying is that unless someone agrees with your exact views and put's their name down you're not willing to listen to what others concerns are?
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you just change the name of this blog to the Wise & Just Blog as it seems you just want to hear your own self tell everyone how smart you are....

Jeff,
ReplyDeleteIt's the "I'm kinda making it up as I go along and if I can keep myself happy, no matter what people think policy".
The motto's is, Rule? What rules, I don't need to follow any stinking rules (even if I make them!!! LOL!!!)
I run it, I can keep or eliminate whatever I want, so maybe I'll rename it the Unwise & Unjust Blogs.
It would be funny, except this guy apparently was a county supervisor in an earlier era. Wow.
ReplyDelete-Jeff
Good job Todd...you are attracting a lot of traffic already!
ReplyDeleteGood grief...."Can't.....can't...can't we all just get along??"
ReplyDeleteWhat would Pelline know about an "earlier era" around here?
ReplyDeleteDid your liberal buddies tell you about the old era jeff?
Pelline your clueless sir. Stop acting like you know what you're talking about.
Woodsy 2.1
I can't use my real name. I don't welcome bratty liberal attempts to harm me or my family.
You know Todd...if you are not careful...people may confuse Sierra Dragon's Breath with "pendragon" LOL
ReplyDeleteGee Barry,
ReplyDeleteThe question for me is did being a TPP member help you in your venture to get elected?
I'd have the say that losing by almost a 200% margin I'd say NO?
Your thoughts on this loss?
Dave Ventible
Speaking of clueless.....
ReplyDeleteWoodys 2.1 you fit that description to a "T"
This is good. Keep it going.
ReplyDeleteWhatta stupid comment!
ReplyDeleteWoodsy, thanks man, keep posting.
ReplyDeleteTodd:
ReplyDeletePlease define the threats you received. I'm interested in what you define as a "threat." Please tell us.
Shawn Garvey
As a a lifelong liberal/progressive (with my bio having some similarities to yours: I'm 68, a father and grandfather, a property-owner in NC for about 40 years, proud of serving my country, etc.), I'm glad to see this conservative blog. I hope it will be an opportunity for us to exchange views in a mutually respectful manner.
ReplyDeleteIn particular, I'm curious about your use of the term, "leftwingnuts","LWN," etc. I assume this is intended only to apply to the nutty WING of the left, not the entire left? (Just as I apply "rightwingnuts" only to the extreme right fringe, not the right as a whole).
In fact, I have a list of conservatives whom I admire greatly (e.g., Bruce Fein, Russell Kirk, William F. Buckley, Barry Goldwater ... ), and I wouldn't apply the "nut" label to any of them.
Good luck with this. I'll do my part to help keep it civil.
Gaarvey, I remember you from SYRCL. Seems we were on opposite sides during that endeavor. Regarding threats, I'll keep you in the dark about what I consider a threat. You are a grown man and should know what a threat is. The FUE is forever threatening so study him.
ReplyDeleteYes Mr. Pelton...I believe that you are correct in assuming that "Leftwingnuts" refers to extreme partisans on the left.
ReplyDeleteThe interesting thing is that people that want smaller government, less government intrusions on the people, and less government control are somehow extreme right wing people.
To me the things I listed that are viewed as extreme by the "leftwingnuts" are rather mainstream and the far-left is so far out of touch and misalighned with our founders intent that they view said items as extreme.

I guess my question is of a general nature. The schools don't teach civics, and frankly the concept of district captains being the people who decide who or who isn't going to appear on a ballot came as a surprise.
ReplyDeleteHave you been a Precinct Captain? What sort of interaction have you had with PC's during your political career?
How high is the bar to become one?
Ah yes, we're off to a fine start.
ReplyDeleteHey papertiger! How's it goin', man?!
When I was Chairman of the NCRCC back in the 90's I worked hard to fill all the seats of each district and their alternates. I see the NCDCC has a huge number of openings which tells me they are too extreme for the general democrats of the county. I was successful in filling all the seats when I was there. We were pretty successful in electing Republicans to many local offices and in our state and federal delegations. We won many more than we lost. I was always ready to debate in the public square in those days and I did a lot of it when I was running CABPRO as well. The county is still a right-center county and yesterday's Union ran a story about the numbers. We also have many conservative democrats here. I would expect us to be fairly successful at the ballot box here.
ReplyDeleteCould the difference be that alot of folks, like me, don't know what a PC is, rather then that the NCRCC has become this or that?
ReplyDeleteLike I said schools don't teach civics. Back when you were in school did they have civics class?
Assume that people would want to be involved at the local level if they knew how, could you give a brief primer on the duties of a PC.
Explain it like I don't know nuthin - cause I don't.
The plain and simple FACT is that the TPP mantra's that Todd so liberally throws around does not sit well with any one group, except for other very conservative Republicans.
ReplyDeleteYou can say that I'm blowing smoke, but the truth is that moderate Republicans (such as myself) do not want much, if any part of the TPP agenda.
Look at what happened to the most recent TPP candidate locally? My thoughts tend to tell me that he didn't do himself any good by associating himself with the TPP, and if anything he lost by a very wide margin. Now we all know that this has been and will be a Democratic based area, but if you look the margins that Barry lost by this would indicate that many of my fellow Republicans voted for a Democratic candidate.
I went to see our Congressman in Lake Wildwood, and I was completely disappointed by this whole event as I felt it was hijacked by the TPP.
I felt that these types of meetings should have been a open discussion, but you might as well have asked the people what party they were with, and duct taped the people who said Democratic.
It was a joke, and considering that I have consistently supported my party, but I have always voted for the Best Candidate, and many times the Best Candidate is not wearing a red shirt.....
I certainly hope we can do a better job in picking qualified candidates.
B. Glasse
Papertiger, A PC organizes his/her precinct in some very simple ways. The precinct is an area and generally has about (in my day) about 500 voters or so. The PC would need to study the maps, streets and the voters. Then there could be voter printouts utilized and maintained and phone lists put together. Person to person contact, direct mail and the development of helpers within the precinct is also very helpful. This is co-ordinated by the Central Committee. It sounds easy but it is hard to make happen with overworked people on a volunteer basis. This strategy works well. The goal, get the vote out!
ReplyDeleteB. Glasse. Sorry to hear you are disappointed with your party. The polls today show exactly the opposite of your view of the TPP. Americans want change and the only people trying to achieve it are the conservatives. 25% of the TPP are democrats! I was at the LWW McClintock meeting and it was not orchestrated by the TPP. There were a few folks there from the TPP but it appeared to me most were seniors and retired military.
Barry Pruett lost the election and he has moved on. I have lost elections and I have moved on. Have you ever run? Yes, the people sympathetic to the TPP win some and they lose some. That is America. I would urge you to cheer up and volunteer down at the Republican headquarters in the B and C Center. Maybe then you could see up close and personal the process of freedom.
If Mr G wants "nothing to do with the TPP" then I would submit that he isn't a fiscal conservative and the exact reason Republicans got taken out in 06' and 08.'
ReplyDeleteFiscal conservatism is the main effort of the TPP...and must be the new mission of the RNC. Liberalism lite doesn't cut it.
Woodsy 2.1
Well, Woodsy 2.1 that's interesting, but you have to ask yourself one question.....
ReplyDeleteWill the current agenda result in the TPP picking up seats, or will the TPP's agenda end up in diverting most of the RNC's "middle of the road" people into voting for the other party?
Financial Conservatism is great, but it lacks any real power without being able to move it's agenda forward, and without the seats, you have nothing.
Correct or incorrect in your mind?
In my mind the real reason the reason why the Republican's got taken out in the 2006 & 2008 is that they is that they don't have a clear agenda that does not include some wacky religious, or concise agenda that was in place before the TPP even came into the program.
You want to have the TPP's agenda be your program, then you'd better be ready to lose a large percentage of the moderate Republicans and a majority of any conservative Democrats.
This next election will speak the truth about who's right and who's wrong as almost all of the polls (I'm speaking about the non RNC and DNC based polls) have Obama beating all of the current RNC candidates very badly.
B. Glasse
Four million more republicans voted in primaries this year than democrats. This is unprecedented turnout. If your position is correct, how do you explain this?
ReplyDeleteI can't but what I think might happen (and the key word is "might") and the thing that I'm the most afraid of happening is that some TPP member does something stupid (i.e. takes some kind of stupid action that defaces the true interest of this group) which then make the center of the road voters (which the winning party will need to win the race) turn away and look at the party that seems to be more center of the road focused.
ReplyDeleteWhen you look at the total voters in this country in the 2008 election @130 million votes were cast, 69,456,897 for Obama, and 59,934,814 for McCain. It doesn't make much sense, even if there were 4 million more votes if voters still vote the same way, but we're all smart enough to know that the vote will be greatly different, but, in my mind, not if the RNC pulls the stupidity that they did in the last election.
Why didn't the 4 million voters not vote in the last election? That's the key question that we should be asking each other? Could it be that we had people who no one cared about?
As nice as Sarah Palin is, she is certainly not the one that most people have a "kinship" for. I know that she is a favorite "darling" of the TPP, but in all reality I hope the RNC and TPP can find a person with a brain, and not just (I read this in the Union) a Cheerleader as we need someone with substance and business leadership experience.
Maybe the Koch brothers (with a estimated $35+ billion dollars) would want to run?
B. Glasse
Well my experience tells me the electorate on the center right is motivated much more than the center left this election cycle. Obama won because he got his supporters motivated to vote and there was not a lot of enthusiasm for McCain. It is all about turnout. The beneficiaries of you and your wife voting will be McClintock, Whitman and Fiorina. If Brown is the downer I think his democrats think he is they will stay home. Same for Boxer who has been a terrible Senator and has been quite responsible for the mess in DC. So, you can get involved and help get out the Republican vote. Go down to the headquarters and volunteer. Boxer, Brown and the rest of the democrat wrecking crew need to go.
ReplyDeleteI sure don't want Boxer or Brown, but in Boxer's case, again why can't we find a "uncluttered" Conservative individual to run?
ReplyDeleteI personally have a real problem with Fiorina and her business practices. I have met Ms. Fiorina as my cousin was the director of R&D for HP, and I thought she was a bit sleezey back in 2004, but getting fired from HP for wire tapping her employees is not a sign of a someone I feel can handle this job. The movement of HP jobs for me makes business sense, but I like many others have a problem in electing a person who breaks that law and gets fired for it.
The biggest problem that I have is that Ms. Fiorina has never acknowledged that she made a mistake and addressed that situation.
At least with Boxer, I know what I'm getting.
I agree with change on the Whitman program, so there's no question there.
I do wonder about McClintlock, as what benefit has our county see from him and why should I vote for him? I know that locally there were several proposals that he was given (including helping secure a permanent homeless shelter from a foreclosed federal property that could have been gotten for very little / nothing) but I haven't seen much, if anything from him....
I will vote for the person who is responsible in their actions, doesn't promote more spending (and works on cutting all spending across the board), promotes local businesses and helps it's local people...
I haven't seen that from Tom yet!
B. Glasse
Your comments are well taken. I too have my problems with politicians of both party's but I live a lot by trying not to cast the first stone. No one is perfect by any stretch and I believe the body politic needs a change periodically. The change to Fiorina may make ex HP employees mad but in the minds of many Californians she was practising business and it can be brutal. I have been fired, I have fired people and it is usually not the practice of people to praise those that fired them. The people want change. Boxer is a terriblw Senator and California is in worse shape since she has been in DC. Clean the wounds of libralism to save the body. So, go down to the R headquarters and volunteer to help. You will feel better.
ReplyDeleteI won't feel better though..... There are numerous more qualified people than Fiorina, but in the Republican party it has become the golden rule....
ReplyDeleteThose who have the gold rule....
Lately the rule seems to be "No use in trying to find a promote a truly qualified individual who meets our goals, let's just grab Carly, she has the money to waste on her campaign, who cares if she has a troubled past as that's OK..."
B. Glasse
What you fail to recognize is, you can run for Governor. Throw your hat in the ring. I did and I won some and lost some but I got involved as a candidate. You can do it too. Go volunteer at the headquarters. Get some voter lists and go door to door. Make phone calls. Apply for some of the open positions on school boards, fire boards and others. There is a lot of places to put yourself. Try Congress, anything. I tell every American, jump in. You may surprise everyone and win. When I first ran I was unknown in politics and was simply motivated to help the county. Hard work, lots of personal time given and a good message. I won! You can do it too.
ReplyDeleteI do what I can, and last year, because of the changes in the economy my efforts were limited to financial support for candidates.
ReplyDeleteThis year will probably be much the same as last as things have slowed waaaaaay dowwwwwwn in this economy...
B. Glasse
"Everybody can relax and stop worrying. After two years of race-baiting, fear-mongering and legislative roadblocking, the Republican Party has finally produced a blueprint that will undoubtedly fix everything. In the spirit of Newt Gingrich's 'Contract with America,' the GOP on Thursday unveiled a 21-page document titled 'Pledge to America' that, they hope, will be the banner to which the American people will rally come November. It's the biggest thing since the Magna Carta, if you listen to them tell it, and will surely be the solution to all that ails us. Or not. It is, in full, a startlingly vapid piece of work."
ReplyDeleteYou posted this on another thread here and I answered it. You are lazy.
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm thorough.
ReplyDeleteI think your boy Enos has been dropping by anonymously. That looks more like Baja than Anonymous. LOL
ReplyDeleteShhhhh! Barry, it's time for you to be quiet, the adults to keep speaking and you have no business in the adult section!
ReplyDeleteI did read the Blueprint plan, and quite frankly I'm fairly disturbed and disappointed in what was written.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same old crap, nothing new from the Republican Parties Leadership.....
We need to move this country in a different direction.... Cut all spending (everyone including the military, parks, and funding for any country by 15%), but the leadership wants to continue with the stupidity of building / buying missile systems and planes.
Everyone needs to suffer, and contribute in the same manner. All of the agricultural programs for not growing need to stop, and agricultural subsidies need to be eliminated.
I cannot figure out this whole tax rate argument issue too? The upper 2% still need the tax breaks because they will help the economy? Has that worked so far, and if so why hasn't is worked and brought the economy full turn around and moving forward?
We need new leadership in the Republican party, people who actually get it!
B. Glasse
Brad...what do you mean by "we"
ReplyDeleteBy "me" I mean the real Republicans, you remember those ones, the ones that are now independent's because of the stupidity that the Republican leadership has shown since the mid 1980's....
ReplyDeleteThe one's that are not tied to the current stupidity that the Republicans keep presenting time after time, after time. The latest example is the new and improved Blueprint plan?
When I first started reading it I thought "this must be a mistake as it looks like the same ideas that I've heard for the past 10 years", but no, it was another wacky document (and mistake) from the Republican Leadership
I thought that someone with your, and your wife's political background would be able to ask yourself why has "my" Republican party has become; a party of Religion: and a party of intolerance: a party that is so stuck on the same old program of continue the spending, but don't talk about a methodology for paying for it (even though this program has not worked in the past and has very little chance of working in the future):
If anything, someone like you might learn something from what has happened to governments that involve religion with government. They have been shown to lose their focus and to do (what in the civilized world world we call) stupid things....
Just how many in the religious leadership roles in this country have been shown to be hypocrites, and ended up leaving in shame?
Taxes - Republicans have been spending for YEARS like drunken sailors, but no one has wanted to say "maybe we should re-evaluate our financial program as we can't support what were doing", but nope, it's "don't tax anyone, but let's keep spending, as we need the F22 (at $1 Billion each) or advanced weapon system for everyone? Who cares if we have the best equipment in the world, and no one else has anything that can compare, but let's buy them anyhow!
I am very much like the "WE" Republican who have learned that, we vote for the person who will do the best job and not just the person who's wearing the red shirt.
This is probably why you lost to chance for the new job, as you we're too involved with your program and couldn't figure out that you did not represent the views of the actual Republicans, or many residents in this county.
B. Glasse
Please...you are a registered Democrat who has voted Democrat ballots consistently for years. You are also Berner4u on the Union. Don't try to BS me...at least be honest so that we can have an intellectual discussion beased on full disclosure.
ReplyDeleteBarry, I find it interesting that a democrat would have the temerity to tell "we" republicans how we should be. LOL. Anyway, I actually think the Pledge is a good start but we do need to get the mess fixed the liberals have given us. The Congress has been out of control since they passed the Income Tax a hundred years ago. The piggy bank was cracked open and the politicians have never looked back. If "we" are to save the country from the likes of berner, we must defeat them in November. I thank you and your wife for leading the charge to do just that.
ReplyDeleteOn one aspect I do agree with Brad. Republicans have been spending to much too. That is why the TP came into existence. Eight years of Bush had conservatives pissed. Obama got them off the couch. It is both parties fault. The new TP job is to keep conservatives conservative and truly reduce spending and taxes as Brad suggests.
ReplyDeleteI am by no means giving Denny Hastert a pass on his oversight regarding spending. The R's thought they could out dem the dems and keep the people back home quiet. The voters stayed home because the hierarchy misread and the libs got the baton. So, now we have to hold their feet to the fire if we regain the baton. I want America to return to the "citizen" representative and away from career politicians. The other major overhaul though, reforming CIVIL SERVICE is right up at the top as well. The bureaucrat knows he is really in charge because we cannot get rid of them when they need to be removed. So, until we have a major restructuring of the basic government we will not succeed.
ReplyDeleteGee Barry that must be why I donated $2500 to Romney's campaign in the last election?
ReplyDeleteWhat financially have you done for your party in the last election?
I don't know where you got your information, but I changed my party affiliation to Independent many years ago, so I don't know where you got your information, and see Barry I, like my brother's and father have always been conservative (they are all Republican), but we're all be what I call "thinking" Republicans who look at the future and not just believe the rubbish that spoon fed by the leadership of Republican party.
I'm tired of being fed horse manure by the Republican leadership and told it's good for you! Do you think that Ronald Reagan's idea of government (since every Republican on the planet thinks he's the holy grail of Republicanism) would include the idea's that have been presented in the last 12+ years?
I think not!
The Blueprint is one thing, it's a replay of the same old mantra's, the same old horse manure. No cuts, no plan for paying for the foolishness that we've done, and no program to change it so we don't do it ever again.
No Changes, nothing new, no plan to solve the problems that this country is facing!
I support many of the issues that the TPP is after, but I think that their methodology needs to be re-evaluated as from where I'm standing they do not get the support of many (other than the 4 million TPP members) mid stream conservative moderates, they will have nothing.
Now you might say (screw them as we don't need them if they don't support our causes Lock, Stock & Barrel) but if you want changes in this country you can either re-evaluate your presentation, which has lots of holes in it (i.e. funding by the Koch Brothers, and their associated problems) or you'll be kicked to the curb in this next election cycle.
The TPP will become the little dog that when you come into the yard nips at your heel, but never a big dog that rules the yard.
Why don't we have a balanced budget, whereas if we don't have the money, we don't spend it?
B. Glasse
You registered as a Democrat on October 21, 2005 in Nevada County. Also, the FEC has no record of your alleged contributions to Romney. Now, one Andrew Peceimer from Burlingame contributed truckloads to a lot of TP and Repub candidates! I like this guy, and I do not even know him! LOL.
ReplyDeleteWell, golly, how to add to the Pledge to fix America? Abolish, the Departments of Education, Energy, EPA, and the thousands of Ag departments. No more grants to anyone until we are balanced. How about removing the Fed from our state water issues? Get rid of all the iterations created by the feds within Social Security and return it to a retirement fund. Hire two thousand cops to go after Medicare Fraud and when found, send the scofflaws to Rikers. Oh I have many, many ideas.
ReplyDeleteGee, Barry I guess you know where our trust money comes from now and welcome to our families history in the Republican party.
ReplyDeleteDo you wonder why our families money went both to McCain and Romney? Seems there might be more than one point of view in our Republican family.
Now as I've said, what have you done financially for the Republican party?
B. Glasse
Brad...you are being dishonest and I will not argue with someone who is lying. There is not more than one point in your Republican family, as you are a registered Democrat. Until you come clean we have nothing about which to speak concerning these issues. Search the FEC website for my contributions. Mine is there...your alleged one is not.
ReplyDeleteBarry, why do the liberals lie? Are they ashamed? LOL.
ReplyDeleteAll of the above facts are public records...it is not like you cannot go find the stuff. If you are going to lie, at least be smart enough to lie about stuff that cannot be verified. LOL
ReplyDeleteI catch them lieing all the time. It is in their DNA. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLet's see Barry, you have given a whole $900, verses our families $10,450.
ReplyDeleteWhatta contributor! Keep up the good work, and again why did you lose the last election?
B. Glasse
Oh and I forgot, your Law Partnership gave the money, not you, so let's try to not tell everyone how truthful you are.... (gee don't these comments sound familiar as the money comes from sources, but starts at the same place!)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that your truthfulness will be very interesting in the next election for dog catcher....
LOL!!!
B. Glasse
You are not that bright. When you make a contribution, you have to give them your employer information so that they can track any potential bundling. I don't lie...so you will never get me twisted. Nice try though.
ReplyDeleteGee Barry, I still haven't heard a response as to why was there a such a large percentage that decided you just weren't right for our county?
ReplyDeleteB. Glasse
I would suggest Barry got a whole lot more votes than B. Glassen. At least Barry had the courage to run and that gets my respect right off the gitgo. You naysayers need to put your name in nomination to have any credibility regarding elective office.
ReplyDeleteHey, you dissing my family? Actually, when I ran for President I received 43% of the vote.
ReplyDeleteI bet, 43% of you're family is a great accomplishment! That's would be you and your wife and your 2 grand kids, but your 3 kids and all of the other grand kids said NO WAY, YOUR CRAZY!!!!
ReplyDeleteBoy, that's something to really brag about!
