America is Alive and Kicking

I have been politically active since about 1978.  That year Prop 13 (original initiative here) was on the statewide ballot and Measures A and B were on the local ballot. I supported Prop 13 and opposed the other two.  Getting involved was something I had done sparingly in my life up until then.  I was 28, a building contractor and just starting out.  Forces I was not familiar with or at least not paying much attention to, were gaining strength here in Nevada County and at the state level.  Prop 13 was the result of property taxes going up so much that older people were unable to pay them and risked losing their houses.  This energized many people and the fight was on.  Government had been growing fast, all the do-gooder's were foisting their ideas on everyone through the passing of laws, Jerry Brown signed them.  Of course all these programs cost money and the left just kept pressing the locals for more money which was squeezed from the homeowners.  This was the left's big mistake.  People rose up and used the initiative process to stop them.  I helped and with motivated people anything is possible.  More later.

  1. Prop 23 is now this generations Prop 13. We need to stop the unelected bureaucrats at CARB from robbing us blind with carbon taxes and fees.

  2. Absolutely Russ. The left has done their best to snooker the people and hopefully this last push to get the truth out will lead Prop 23 to victory. We also have to defeat the EPA and the Executive branch usurpation of legislation. The EPA needs to be modified.
