I guess I was just raised differently then a liberal. Duh! Yes, I was given direction as a yougin that the world was there to conquer and you could be whatever you wanted to be. All you needed to do was work hard and become the best at whatever you chose to do. Of course there were some bumps along the way and those had to be overcome. Sometimes I won, sometimes I lost. But overall, maintaining a positive attitude trumps most all the crapola tossed at us.
Why is it that I read so much negativity from the left? Here locally and for the most part, all across this country! Is it just a natural state of mind for a liberal/democrat? Is it a hormone imbalance? Maybe how they were taught or raised? Maybe all that? I can tell you it sure is prevalent in them and they have brought the greatest country on the planet almost to its knees.
There doesn't seem to be a positive thing these lefties can muster up. Hell, this morning I read that those little plastic coffee containers are now a huge environmental problem according to these libs. I mean come on. Can't people enjoy anything without these people raining on the parade? I guess not. I do my best to stay positive about things in the face of the massive downers these lefty folks toss out on the nightly news and in most testimony on most podiums. I watch CSPAN and sometimes the California channel from Sacramento (I was known to read manuals too) which give me a look inside the minds of these negatory people.
America is the greatest place ever conceived politically and for human freedom yet listening to these lefty people you would think it was the worst. They claim I have "white privilege" yet complain if we call them a skin color for identification! They say I have to pay them "reparations" because supposedly my distant ancestors stole their labor and in the case of the Indians, their lands! Even though I and my ancestors never owned a slave of any color or stole land! Just because I am a "white skinned" person I am guilty they say. I just say, good luck with that, you are just lazy asses who want what I have worked for. Not gonna happen! The worst though are these self hating "white" liberals.
Locally the lefty contingent, the real out front whiny lib/democrats, they just are never happy. We on the conservative side kick their butts in almost every election here and instead of taking their lumps for not working hard for their candidates, they claim some "conspiracy" kept them from power. Sorry lib/dems, your views are not accepted here yet. You certainly have the rest of the state though and if you want to feel important I suggest you move to where you are predominant. Marin, San Francisco, East Bay and most coastal counties down to LA are huge majority lib/dem.
In our little corner of the world we have created a little bit of a sane place away from the whiny left. We get to read conservative pieces in our paper and on most of the blogs. Most of the elected people are right of center and they are full of common sense. Those positions filled by the left are usually a mess. Some Judges here think it is better to have a "kumbaya" circle of criminals than a spell in the clink. Reading our local paper and the amount of crime going on I would suggest more jail time and get those thieving lefty criminals off the streets.
We have seen the left infiltrate almost every aspect of our personal and business lives over the years. What fascinates me the most is these "progressives" used to be the harbingers of good change and personal freedom. Now they are all for shutting up and shuttng down people and views they don't agree with. Locally the arrest of Terry Lamphier for "child porn" on his county computer has brought out the worst in these lib/dems. They have decided that there is a grand conspiracy to send TL down the river. Seems they think he was a threat to the "right" and had to go! My goodness, that is truly nutty. Politically speaking Terry was pretty tame. One person does not threaten a Council or Board power structure. Three votes are needed. It appears the lib/dems can't even count!
So I suggest the lib/dem conspiracy folks get a colonoscopy as soon as possible. Maybe a clean-out of the old would really help you. But as we all know now, these lib/dems prefer to wallow in the crapola while claiming to be looking for the pony!
Good writing as usual Todd. The Lamphier episode is amazing in that both he and Enos used to be on the same left side of the highway, making it tough for new businesses. Darn! A falling out between old buddies? It makes me wonder what was in the folder that Enos left at the Rood Center, how did Enos know, and why just before the election? BMW
ReplyDeleteI asked the same question on how Enos knew about the use of the computer. Inquiring minds need answers. Maybe the "award winning journalist" can root out the info? LOL!

The Twin Cities Church reference is interesting. That organization seems to be somehow related to many members of the “good ole boys and gals” networks in our schools and government.
Dan Miller says: March 13, 2015 at 6:11 pm
It’s a Christian church, such as you would classify Calvary Bible, St. Patrick’s Catholic, United Methodist or Peach & Grace Lutheran Churchs as well as Sierra Presbyterian and many others. I didn’t know they catered to “good ole boys and gals”, whatever that is supposed to mean, so you need to be careful in what you might consider networks. They contribute a lot of time and energy to make our community a better place and they don’t ask for anything in return. So sad that people who love the Lord can become a piece of political fodder on a blog. I don’t normally respond to blog comments but this had to be addressed.

Thanks Dan. I appreciate your sensitivity to this comment. I don’t think Joe is the first person I’ve heard bring this up, though. Whenever I hear it, the issue does not center around the sincerity of “loving the Lord”; it centers around concerns about the diversity of civic and elected leadership in GV. I would be glad to have a conversation with you about it one day. BTW, I am excited about judging the Pasty Toss competition this weekend (among other things). Have a great weekend.

Scoop! Did you all know that rural California provides the water and grows and raises most all the food that the urban areas consume? Without rural California the urbanite's would starve and they have no water. Sierra Business Council has studied the issue and has reported on this.
ReplyDeleteWow! Golly, I think we used to supply the gold and other minerals too! Even the timber! Those SBC studies are really so intuitive aren't they? Thanks goodness the taxpayers pay for them. What would we do without such valuable info?
DeleteNo a lot of grass fed beef being raised in San Francisco, but they sure do eat a lot of it. Guess where it's raised?
DeleteShould have been "Not" a lot of grass fed beef. Sorry for the typo.
DeleteDon't need a new report to know that rural counties grow and produce so Bay Area counties can eat, drink, have a roof over their heads and have lights. Rural counties are also where the bay area folks come to buy second homes that they seldom use. This drives the real estate prices out of reach of the locals that live and work there vs. the bay area folks that come to "recreate". Look at all the vacation homes in Truckee and around Lake Tahoe. Often owned by over weight Bay Area folks. I bet they have some low paid local doing their yard work for them and serving them in the restaurants most locals can't afford to eat at.
ReplyDeleteWaters World in the Bay Area would be soo funny. The urbanites think that hamburger is grown just as it appears in the plastic wrap.
DeleteDid you know that Bay Area counties and urban areas create the vast majority of the air pollution that then invades rural California? Did you know this has a major health impact of those that live in rural California, especially impacting the health of the young and the old the most?
ReplyDeleteThey are responsible for the ozone levels but since they have the most people they can get away with blaming us. One Senator per county!
Delete"Did you know that Bay Area counties and urban areas create the vast majority of the air pollution that then invades rural California? Did you know this has a major health impact of those that live in rural California, especially impacting the health of the young and the old the most?"
ReplyDeleteWon't see Cartman reporting on that...
Probably not. Those "San Francisco values" keep the truth from the sheeple.
DeleteDid you know that a lot of those bay area folks move here when they retire? They do so to get the hell out of the mess down their. Many take their real estate equity and flee the bay area as soon as possible. The cost of living, the traffic, the poor air quality, the super high real estate costs, crime, all reasons they can't wait to retire and get out. This is a fact.
ReplyDeleteThat babe who wrote a letter in the Union this morning just moved here last year and she is already full of lies and misinformation. How do people like that get so mentally challenged? My goodness!
DeleteNotice how the rural folks don't preach and pass laws and ballot measures to dictate and control the lives of those living in the urban areas like San Fran? Notice how the libs in the Bay Area pass laws and ballot measures to dictate and control the lives of those living in the rural areas?
ReplyDeleteYou don't see this being covered by the lefty blogs, why?
ReplyDeleteA day after dismissing student protests as “crap,” University of California President Janet Napolitano apologized for her remark caught on an open mic.
“Yesterday, after we heard from a couple dozen speakers, and things got a little active from the audience in terms of chanting and throwing stuff and whatever, I was caught on a mic with a word that was unfortunate,” Napolitano said at the UC Board of Regents meeting Thursday. “I want to just say I apologize for that. I ask for your empathy and understanding in my comments.”
Napolitano’s blunder came as several students disrupted Wednesday’s meeting with concerns about rising tuition. During the protests, Napolitano turned to Regent Bruce Varner, apparently unaware that her microphone was broadcasting to an online audience. “Let’s just break. Let’s go. Let’s go,” she said. “We don’t have to listen to this crap.”
She is liberal and Pelline and his ilk are as well. They do not criticize their brethren at all so it is up to us, the "truth tellers" to get the messages out. After Nappy wrecked the country (after Arizona) our Governor thought "hey, why not let her wreck our college system"? So there you are. A human tornado of destruction of all that is good.

Did you guys know I spend most all my time bashing on Grass Valley and the community I moved to from my roost in Nevada City or my vacation home at Tahoe? Did you know I endlessly bash the right but say nothing about the left and their actions while claiming to be a middle of the road guy? Did you know I'm totally one sided? Did you know that facts don't matter when it comes to trying to protect and run cover for the local lib's and Dem's? Did you know I lack self control and sometimes post endlessly on George Rebane's blog like a 12 year old girl? Did you know I have no real friends? Did you know I like to bash the Grass Valley Chamber? Did you know I'm obsessed and a narcissist? Did you know I moved here to get rid of you and save Nevada County? Did you know free speech is only for the Dem's and the lib's, that any thoughts or speech that I don't agree with is wrong and must be silenced?
ReplyDeleteYou won't tell us your IQ's either. I think you are a 12 year old. LOL!
DeleteJim Firth submitted an opinion piece to the Union that included a 100% false claim about the City of Grass Valley and the very small amount of funding they provide to the Grass Valley Chamber. Firth's claim is not true. So the head of the Chamber responded in the very same public venue Firth made his false claim.
ReplyDeleteFirth wrote "If the city council hadn’t provided substantial monies to the Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce there could have been enough money to hold an election for the public to decide who the newest city council member would be.” This is not true, this is false and Firth made this false claim on the editorial page of the Union newspaper.
When Firth, head of the local Dem Party made this false claim the FUE said NOTHING. But when the head of the Chamber responded to Firth's lie the FUE goes nuts and tries to protect Firth. The truth doesn't matter to the FUE.
We see Firth yapping again. Doesn't he get it that Grass Valley wants nothing to do with him? There comes a point where you have to realize you are a dinosaur and Firth and Pelline are just in denial.
DeleteAnd Pelline is the epitome of a "podunk" troll. No wonder no one likes the guy. Well, other than the liberals here.
DeleteTodd, I just read your interaction with the nastiest man in Nevada County over the past couple of days, and I must say that both you and fish have my respect for being able to do that. I felt like taking a shower after reading his nastiness. I was quite surprised though that the only question you asked him was about his IQ. He clearly has no self awareness which puts him in the the not terribly bright range. But there are so many more intriguing questions that inquiring minds want to know, like:
DeleteHow do you put on your shoes?
How long has it been since you saw your peepee?
Do you sleep on your back, or face up?
These are so much more important questions than his silly little IQ. Could you please get the answer to these important questions at your next Q and A with Cartman? Thanks. Po-dunk
I'll try po-dunk. But as you pointed out he is unwilling to tell us his IQ so it appears his is low. His emotional quotient is really young too, like a 12 year old girls. I guess when you are an obese person your self esteem is really low or you would at least try to get in shape.
DeleteWhile we are compiling our wish list of questions for the aforementioned Cartman character, I would like to know if he has ever had a conversation with a psychologist? The man clearly has issues, and I wonder if he is unaware or unwilling to acknowledge them?
DeleteMy guess is he thinks he is normal. Delusional!
DeleteI see that nasty fellow Ken Jones is trashing me and other on the right again. That guy is really a loser.
DeleteSpeaking of local whiners, foodie elitist Pelline is ranting about George Boardman's piece in the union today about hamburgers. One of Pelline's posters nails the real issue, but Pelline tells his how wrong he is. PeterK is correct and Pelline is clueless to the real issues of price and the right to choose.
ReplyDeletePeteK says: March 23, 2015 at 7:55 am
"Maybe Bored Hoardman was talking about getting a decent burger in town that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg… Sure all the places you mentioned have good to great burgers but the average Joe around town can’t afford to buy one for himself, let alone his family"
Pelline is the one that's "out of touch" with the VAST majority of people that can't afford the high prices of the wonderful farm to fork, ultra green, enviro approved, expensive, groovy burgers and food in the currently trendy gastro pub, high end, pricey joints. There's a reason In & Out is ranked number one in the nation and Pelline the elitist hates that. He wants to dictate where we eat and what we eat, a perfect Lib that wants to control our lives just like they like to do in San Francisco. You can bet Pelline knows where all the over priced, unaffordable to the common folk burgers are at around Lake Tahoe where he has his vacation home. Bet he uses his silver spoon to eat those high priced burgers.
SCOOP! I like BURGERS! Oh Yeah! Got to get me some of those juicy burgers! I like to write about hamburgers, and I like to talk about hamburgers, but mostly I LIKE TO EAT HAMBURGERS! Maybe you didn't know this. Now that I put some of my food in a blender before I eat it, you might think that I stopped eating the really good stuff, like HAMBURGERS! But no, I still eat my hamburgers. I also like to take pictures of hamburgers! I'll bet I have more pictures of hamburgers than any of you podunk good old boys. I am the HAMBURGER KING! Hmmm...maybe I will start my own chain! I could name it after ME! The HAMBURGER KING! I am so awesome! And I love my hamburgers. Maybe you didn't know that about me but I REALLY DO love my hamburgers!
DeleteOur little county has a broad range of burgers and I have tried them all. Even Friar Tuck's burgers are really good, bit they are expensive. The proce ranges go from the buck a piece to probably 12-15. If George Boardman was talking about boating costs, Pelline would find a way to criticize. It is all personal with Pelline, that is why he is hunkered down in the bunker. No one likes him.
DeleteMaybe Pelline just hates religious companies...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.businessinsider.com/18-extremely-religious-big-american-companies-2013-6
No I think Pelline hates everyone except the chef at his next meal.
DeletePelline's shot at my column today is a good example of the intellectual dishonesty he routinely utilizes to distort the facts and mislead anybody who's naive enough to take him at his word.
ReplyDeleteI wrote about the scarcity around here of better hamburger CHAINS, but he called me a know-nothing because I ignored the hamburgers served at local RESTAURANTS. He know this is a misrepresentation of what I wrote, but he needs to create a false narrative so that his criticism will seem reasonable and I'll look foolish. He's also banking on the fact that his acolytes will believe anything he writes and won't notice his clumsy slight-of-hand.
He then trots out a list of restaurants that includes places in Tahoe and Truckee--as if anybody is going to drive there just to satisfy their craving for a decent hamburger. Pelline has to go that far afield because every place he listed has advertised in his "magazine," and he wouldn't want to strain any relationships by leaving out somebody.
People who read my column before they read Pelline's criticism regularly ask me what he's smoking (they also say some other things, but I won't repeat them here). I just say, "That's the former big-time journalist in action."
I think the point was that there are plenty of quality and locally owned burgers and the area would not be very well served by yet another corporate chain store running the Mom & Pops out of business and replacing them with low end jobs. If anyone is being clumsy, it is you for writing such a stupid column in the first place and then trying to hide your stupidity with this clumsy response.
DeleteThanks, Jeffy. I can always depend on you to take the high road.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
DeleteIt's about choice and price. Most families around here can't afford to spend the high cost of taking a family to a local restaurant for a burger. Others choose to visit and spend at regional and national chains, it's their choice, stop trying to dictate to everyone! In & Out is loved by many, but in the control everything Lib world those that like In & Out are bad people. Claiming they put mom and pops put of business is total BS. Low end jobs you say? Do you know what the local mom & pops pay and provide in benefits vs. lets say McDonalds or In & Out?
DeleteStop trying to dictate what people eat and where they do it. "Chain stores" killing off local businesses is BS. Jim Boys Tacos started in Grass Valley!
Jeff Pelline? High road? That will never, never happen. In order to take the high road, one must have self-confidence and humility. Pelline has neither.
DeleteGB 1:36PM
DeleteThat is how Pelline does his dirty work but it doesn't matter George. We all like smacking him around because no one likes him and he is so easy to smack. Hard to miss. Anyway, Inn and Out burger is pretty famous as a fast food burger and I am sure there are more. I like the cheeseburger at Humpty-Dumpty and Penny's. Then the one over by KNCO is really good too. Pelline is a nobody who prints his mag I am told, outside of the county. Where are those local jobs he could create but he doesn't care.
The real point is people can eat, shop and spend THIER money where they want, not where the food Nazi's say we must. It's AMERCIA, we have the freedom of choice and don't need Pelline and his Lib buddies dictating where others can and can't eat. Pelline is the LAST person that should be telling people where to eat for obvious reasons.
DeleteI wonder if this is true. Word is when Pelline worked at The Union he often showed up in the morning with a big bag of Burger King.
ReplyDeleteNow all he has do is but their burger smell cologne! LOL!
DeleteSo easy to bait the FUE and friends by putting a few typo's in while posting here, LOL, You can set your clock by how long it takes for them to "report" the typo's on SFR. So funny! LOL They take the bait and fail to considerer it's done on purpose! Po-Dunks! LOL!
ReplyDeleteSo you all think that it's just fine for a large corporation to come in and run locals out of business? How many locally owned drug stores are left in western Nevada Co. two? What about super markets, two? If you don't think the big box stores don't run locals out of business, you live in a different world than the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteIt is a free country. When I was a kid all the stores in the community were neighborhood stores. I worked in one. Then Safeway came and Purity. I think they caused the little stores to close. But they hired locals and paid decent wages. Things change, sometimes it is not easy but life changes all the time. People adjust and will do what is best for themselves and then the community. Don't be so afraid of change.
DeleteWhy don't we make Grass Valley be like Nevada City and keep all the big stores out so no one will shop in town because there is nothing to buy. Then everyone can go broke, not just the small locally owned stores with no customers, but the City also.
DeleteI see the portly big mouth from Truckee is at it again. He is so big he is his own "circle of stupid". What a hoot.

The fool just hates corporations but we have heard that lunacy before. I bet the little local guys are corporations too. Wouldn't that toast these nuts nuts!
DeleteThe majority of "corporate", national and regional branded businesses are franchised businesses. The vast majority are locally owned. The list of these businesses here is endless. Even SPD is part of a larger group. Holiday Inn Express, locally owned, a franchise, it provides massive amounts of TOT funds and economic inputs to the town, including a lot of local jobs. Where the heck does the business and food dictator buy his gas, tires, office supplies, food, etc, etc, etc? I'm sure Pine Street Burger has no fear of In & Out Burger.
