Will Republicans take the US Senate? And what happens if they do?

That old saying "elections have consequences" is here again this coming Tuesday.  The biggest "prize" will be the US Senate and perhaps this "prize" will be worth the billion dollars spent across the country on these elections.  To me since I am a biased Republican secret agent for the Koch Brothers, (LOL!), a R take over of the Senate is the culmination of a lot of hard work if it happens.

So I am a bit nervous as I always am on election day.  When I ran, most of the results were not available until the wee hours so election night.  When I ran and won I was soooo happy!  When I lost I was sooo bummed.  That is the nature of the beast.  If the House of Representatives stays Republican (they think we will pick up a few more seats) and the US Senate becomes a majority too, we might see a flood of bills sent to Obama in a short period of time.  Democrat Majority Leader Harry Reid has held almost 400 House passed bills in the "round file" refusing to allow a vote!  What the hell is the job of our legislature?  Debate and pass or defeat a bill with a VOTE!  But Harry has purposely failed in this job he was elected to do and hopefully at the very least he will get his sorry ass booted from power and the Senate can start voting.

If the R's win a slim majority, I hope they don't wimp and do what happened years ago when it was 50-50 with Cheney as the tie breaker.  Trent Lott tried to be "fair" so he gave some committee chairs and more power to the democrats.  What was their thanks?  Delay, whining and obfuscation!  If the R's win, I say, keep the power until the people boot you.  Don't try and be PC!  It is a numbers game.  I learned that real fast in 1995-96 in the California Legislature.  You win a majority, you get the power.  Do not give it up because you cannot trust the democrats at all.  They showed they will do whatever it takes to maintain their power.  They lie, the commit voter fraud, they change the age-old rules to suit their positions.  There is nothing they won';t do to win.  Republicans must learn that trusting a Boxer, Reid or Obama is a fool's game.  Hell, Obama has changed his positions on so many issues you would think he was that character on the old Star Trek episode.  The fellow that was white on one side and back on the other!  Never able to be pinned down!

America has had a rough road economically because the government has been empowered to dictate so many aspects of our lives and businesses.  We are all lawbreakers just for getting out of bed in the morning!  It is time to take back the country from the overbearing people who want to control us and put people in place who will start acting and legislating like adults.  VOTE on Tuesday and do the right thing.  Toss out the democrats and put the adults back in charge.  Put those freedom loving people called Republicans in charge.  America will truly benefit  to the positive if you do.  We owe it to our kids and grand kids.

    3. In case of Lamphier defeat and Republicans in the Senate: BOLO for oversized male suspect roaming the streets of Nevada City bemoaning the degradation of his beloved democrat party and San Francisco values and begging for chili fries and chardonnay.

  6. BOLO: From the diaries of Jeff Pelline on conservatives taking over Nevada County, he does not like it "So I’m engaged." Get used to it. Local repubs and conservative groups raised over $60000 this cycle with no end in sight. JP may have to create his own pac with the money he gets from the county (for now).

  7. SCOOP!!!

FPPC says NO to Measure S folks and YES to our Sheriff and County:

A Fair Political Practice Commission complaint against several county officials alleging misuse of county resources to oppose Measure S has been denied. The complaint filed by ASA- Nevada County Chairperson, Patricia Smith, alleged that Nevada County Counsel, the Nevada County Clerk Recorder, Nevada County Sheriff, and two Nevada County Supervisors used county time, web resources, and letterhead to post arguments against Measure S which would replace the existing Marijuana Ordinance with a new ordinance. The FPPC sent a written communication to Patricia Smith and copied the response to the named county officials stating no violation to the Political Reform Act.

    1. Well we will see what the voters say. In my experience what she did really would not affect a vote but I understand why she tried. There is always a reason to be suspicious of government but in this instance I would not say she had any reason to suspect shenanigans. Especially by the Sheriff. A purere fellow cannot be found!

  8. This action was a long shot as the FPPC doesn't look into violations like misusing County Resources. We are moving on to The Secy of State and the Attorney General in addition to filing a complaint with the NC Grand Jury..

Whether you support Measure S or not, you should be concerned when elected officials misuse their offices AND our resources to derail a position that was put on the ballot by the people of Nevada County. Next time it could be an issue close to your heart - like gun control.

    1. Well I think I covered your concern with my last comment. I in fact did an initiative in 1996 called Measure F and it passed here in Nevada County. I am extrememly familiar with the process and was once a County Supervisor myself. I was subject to the reverse shenanigans by disgruntled people who lied and cheated to discredit me and others when they simply had disagreements on policy. So I have seen it from both sides. I do appreciate your passion and your hard work. I do not disclose how I vote but beleive me Ms. Smith, you are a good example of a person in use of the democratic process and I salutte your passion and tenacity.

Regarding MJ. I have never smoked it and never done drugs and I did not support the initiative in California to legalize it for medical reasons. I have since loosened up a bit on that because my ultra conservative friend, Don Qrnell, used it when he was dying of cancer and he said it helped.

  10. Now the lawsuits and investigations and grand jury inquires and conspiracy theories and on and on from the passionate and gracious, yet graceless, Patrica M Smith, PMS for short. Gotta love her passions but a loser is a loser at the end of the day. No other person or item on the ballot got such a trouncing as Measure S. It was dead on arrival from the starting blocks. Born dead. No, it was not the wording on the junk mail. It was do you want to make it easier to cultivate or leave things as they are. Still, Ms. Smith is a nice lady.
