With a new socialist President, France is now the proving ground for what happens when "fairness" is put into practice regarding tax policy. We are in the recurring fight about taxes in DC and George W. Bush is back in the limelight. His tax cuts of the last decade are once again up for renewal and if the democrats win this round, the largest tax increase in the history of the planet will kick in.
HERE is the article on how the folks in France are reacting to the looming tax increases by their duly elected self proclaimed socialist President.
Tax policy is very important to the health of a country. The issue in my view is simple. Raise the tax rates and those that can move their money somewhere where the bite is less will do so. American tax policy under Obama and the democrat party seem to be no different than the Euro-socialist strategy. That is, raise the taxes and don't cut the spending. In America democrats refuse to slice and dice the waste and overspending and have made our tax policy a laughingstock. 50% or so of Americans do not pay federal income tax. In California we are even worse than that. Yet like France and other European countries, the left's answer to the disparity is raise the tax rates and squeeze more money out of less people. The job creators get hosed.
France's voters and a couple of other countries voters, have decided "austerity" is not the answer to their largess so they booted politicians trying to implement some common sense in monetary policy. What we will see and France seems to be the start of the practice, is smothering taxes which will further send their economy into depression. Money is like water and seeks its best level. If taxes are too high it will flow to places with better returns and less regulation. France will soon see the result of these stupid socialist policies and end up asking for more money to be printed. Inflation will take off and the very people they think their increased tax policies are supposed to help will be paying twenty bucks for a tomato!
All hell will be breaking loose in a short time. The safety nets these socialist policies were supposed to provide are unsustainable. The "ant" who saved and worked hard for a better and secure life will be overrun by the "grasshopper" of debt and laziness. France is doing the exact opposite of what it should do. Since they have, over time, spoiled the lazy asses in their country who get something for nothing, there will be no austerity. The lazy asses in France will get their monthly stipends and pay the twenty bucks for a tomato and still be ungrateful to those fools who actually work.
The same thing is in the works here in America. Obama and the democrats have over time made many Americans dependent on government. That was never the intent of the Founders and they would be shocked to see the "sea change" in attitudes of the Obama type believers today. The intent of the Founders has been turned on its head! Individual freedom and its protection by our Founding Documents is now deemed by the left to be outmoded and "conservative". This political strategy has worked in that it has divided our country into the two opposing views on almost every issue. Tax policy, work, business, education, morality and ethics are now a fifty-fifty debate.
Europe has been headed to the "cliff" of failure for many years. They did this while American taxpayers protected them from the communists since the end of WW2. They did not spend much on defense since we did it for them. They spent the savings on "socialist" redistribution and now the "chickens have come home to roost". My guess is as Europe falls deeper into the socialist lifestyle and economic policies, they will become easy prey to the the likes of a "capitalistic" Russia where just about anything goes regarding money. The Russians are gaining a lot of strength because they have the "energy" that European countries need. This will be a "inroad" to Russian hegemony that the old style USSR could never achieve. It will be very interesting to watch.
Raise those taxes as high as you can Mr. Hollande and you will achieve the international goals set forth under socialism. You may not like what you achieve though. Well, maybe you will but the regular folks may not.
I'm not sure it's lack of wisdom on America's part. For some time now it has looked like intentional destruction of the country's fisc in order to deliver a more compliant US to the promoters of UN's Agenda21.
ReplyDeleteHey, yes, it would be nice if we worked more closely with other nations of the world, through the UN and otherwise. In todays world of universal access to information, you cannot go it alone as the American Cowboy nation.
ReplyDeleteNot too concerned about Agenda 21- never have given it much of a thought until the far, far right brought it up.
Robert, yu apparently have no clue what Agenda 21 is so maybe a bit of studying would help you. "One Bay Area" is on the move and there are many people trying to stop it. It is the Bay Area's attempt at implementing Ahenda21. NH2020 was the local left's attempt here in Nevada County. So check it out and then perhaps read the Resolution from the UN and then get back to us.
ReplyDeleteIt has to be stated once again, in equal quantities to the continuous invocation of Agenda 21 as the basis for any progressive idea.
ReplyDeleteParanoia may De-Stroy-a.
Robert 102pm - Todd's counsel is good; please take a look at the Agenda21 master plan, and note the countries that already implementing it through ICLEIs of which the US has over 500, and of those 100 are in California. On RR (link on right) I have an entire section devoted to Agenda21 which can only be ignored with one's head firmly planted where the sun don't shine. http://www.iclei.org/
