Juan Williams Fired by NPR

Look who is intolerant in the free expression/speech market.  NPR, National Public Radio is now showing everyone what we conservatives always knew.  They are intolerant of speech they disagree with and Juan Williams is the latest example of their intolerance.  You can read articles here and here.

I gave up listening to NPR a long time ago because they have been so liberal it made me want to visit the porcelain throne.  They have Nina Totenburg among others who spew left wing propaganda consistently day after day and we get to pay for it with tax money!  Juan is a liberal contributor to FOX News and I rarely agree with him.  He did write a book (Enough)  which I thought was very well done regarding the plight of blacks and what they can do to succeed if they would stop supporting the race hustlers.

Well, my guess is after Juan and his wife discuss the firing, Roger Ailes and FOX will probably hire him as their full time resident liberal commentator.  NPR should be overhauled top to bottom for their bias and political correctness.  We need to take back our taxpayer institutions from the looney left.

  1. It just does not make any sense. NPR shot themselves in the foot. Considering they get partial funding from our tax dollars, the firing is a clear violation of Juan's constitutional rights to free speech. The public portion of their funding needs to be pulled immediately. I've never quite understood why we help pay their bills anyway.

  2. Todd, this news item below (especially the ending comment) pretty much supports your position that you can't talk to a liberal.....

Journalist Juan Williams said Thursday he was denied a request to meet with National Public Radio officials over his termination in the wake of remarks he made on Fox News about Muslims.

Williams said on Fox News Thursday that Ellen Weiss, NPR's vice president for news, called him Wednesday to tell him he'd been fired.

He said Weiss told him he had made a bigoted statement and crossed a line.

Williams said he asked to meet with Weiss, but she told him nothing he could say would change her mind.

  3. I hope Juan takes this to court. His right to free speech was violated, and since by definition this is a government (tax payer) entity he has standing for a suit infringing on his 1st amendment rights.

Liberals don't like free speech, only speech they agree with.

  4. On the same day that NPR canned Juan Williams for his comments on Muslims, Fox News has handed the veteran journalist a three-year, $2 million contract. "Juan has been a staunch defender of liberal viewpoints since his tenure began at Fox News in 1997," Fox owner Roger Murdoch said in a statement. “He’s an honest man whose freedom of speech is protected by Fox News on a daily basis. Williams was let go from NPR shortly after saying he felt "nervous" when seeing Muslims on an airplane.

Howard Kurtz asks: If Williams had spoken so candidly in a different forum—say, Charlie Rose instead of The O'Reilly Factor—would NPR still have fired him?

Seems to be a big proponent of liberal free speech so you don't seem to know what you're talking about!
