White supremacist executed for Texas dragging of James Byrd Jr.

Lawrence Russell Brewer was sent to burn in Hades on Wednesday.  The scumbag was convicted of killing a Mr. James Byrd Jr. back in 1998 by dragging him to death, chained behind a truck for three miles.  Brewer and two other men did this dastardly deed as a racial crime.

HERE is the latest article on the execution which is actually done fairly. The reason I say fairly is because the press usually sympathizes with the convict but even they could not countenance this heinous crime. This murderer was a member of the racist organization (founded by southern democrats) called the Klu Klux Klan or KKK.  The three killers were cell buddies and lifelong criminals.  Good riddance.

I recall the democrats using this heinous murder in some campaign ads in support of their candidate, Al Gore.  They actually used the daughter of Mr. Byrd and had her speak derisively against Candidate for President, George W. Bush blaming him for this murder.  Of course it was simply democrat scumbag PR people who did this but I don't recall Gore speaking out against the lie.  Bush won, so I guess the people of the country were not fooled.  I found the ad disgusting and yet the left still has not learned their lesson.

Here is the wiki entry on the political ramifications and the big lie spewed by the hapless democrats against Bush. Please note that Governor Rick Perry signed the Hate crime legislation after Bush moved up to the Presidency.

"Impact in American politics

Some advocacy groups, such as the NAACP National Voter Fund, made an issue of this case during George W. Bush's presidential campaign in 2000. They accused Bush of implicit racism since, as governor of Texas, he opposed hate crime legislation. Also, citing a prior commitment, Bush could not appear at Byrd's funeral. Because two of the three murderers were sentenced to death and the third to life in prison (all charged with and convicted of capital murder, the highest felony level in Texas), Governor Bush maintained that "we don't need tougher laws". The 77th Texas Legislature passed the James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Act. With the signature of Governor Rick Perry, who had inherited the balance of Bush's unexpired term, the act became Texas state law in 2001.[22] In 2009, the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act expanded the 1969 United States federal hate-crime law to include crimes motivated by a victim's actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability."

So, a murdering scumbag is adios and hopefully the next one will be following him soon.  The third got life in the clink and hopefully he will rue the day he killed a fellow human being.  Sometimes justice is done right and Texas does it right, most of the time.

  1. The NAACP have played a very important part in the civil rights movement. The initials stand for the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People.
