Maxine Waters, Bloviator Supreme, why those who support her ilk are always shortchanged and poor

Maxine Waters is to me the poster child for ineffective government and the corruption of the leftwing political class. HERE is her latest attack on the Tea Party,  to, in my view, jinn up her Congressional base and divert attention from her personal corruption. This is her tried and true pattern she has used for many years.  Her district Congressional 35, a gerrymandered district par excellence, has voted for democrats at a 75% clip in living memory.  It is 100% urban and contains about 55 square miles of Los Angeles.  The median income is about $41,000 (state median for a family of four is about $78,000).  Her district has the second highest child poverty rate in California Congressional Districts, 21.9% and it has been that way almost all of the time she has been in office (since 1976).

Lately Waters has had her share of troubles with ethics and what I consider inflammatory language.  She has attacked the Tea Party, she attacked fellow Congressman Alan West for urging blacks to stop voting for the same old liberals who he compared with plantation owners.  West is also the only black Republican member of the Congressional Black Caucus.  He must be pretty lonely since the CBC is all liberals.

But Maxine Waters is being investigated by the Ethics Committee of Congress which started in the last session.  Her husband was a board member of a bank which got TARP funds on which she voted.  She denies any ethical or criminal action and is in a fight for her career.  Of course, after the results of her fellow criminal, er, Congressman, Charles Rangel, we probably will see another whitewash and her re-election will be assured, just as Rangel's was. Waters has even threatened to sue the Ethics Committee!  Hubris!

I have wondered how someone so ineffective could be re-elected time after time for so long.  I still don't know.  She seems to have done pretty well economically and her husband as well.  Since she was elected in 1976 to the California Assembly on a "divestiture" mantra against South Africa, she has been promoted  by the poor folks in her districts. (29th then 35th).  Though it is one of the poorest economically in California, and it used to contain the area of Watts, (which I saw up close about 8 years after the riots),  I am unable to understand why she keeps winning huge.  Oh, maybe because it is a huge democrat majority there and we know democrats are ethically challenged.

If the people listen to her they will hear a self serving person who in my view is a typical democrat whiner who blames their ills on those evil conservatives.  She never takes personal responsibility that I can find.  She is a liberal.  Blame others then cry "racism" as the icing on the excuse cake.  She is truly what West called a "plantation" owner Congressperson. Nothing changes for the people of the district and they are dependent on her to bring home the bacon.  Typical "Chicago" style political  lessons.  Tammany Hall in New York would be envious.

So, I hope Maxine will finally realize she has stayed past her useful years and gives up her seat to others.  I hope there is a bit more competition in the 35th District after the recent reapportionment (probably not though).  But these old politicians like Waters, Rangel, Pete Stark and Pelosi will never give up their "lottery ticket" of personal success.  In Waters case, in the poor district she represents she is a big fish.  But, hope springs eternal and maybe someday the voters in the 35th will send her packing and get someone who actually does help them.  Someone who will keep them off the plantation, as Allan West has stated.

  1. In his link to this post, Mr. Pelline describes it as "hateful". I don't see much in here that doesn't ring true. No wonder people have so little regard for Jeff's 'open-minded' journalism.

  2. He and Ed Schultz from MSNBC are the same cloth cut. Ed parsed a Rick Perry sentence in the middle to make it appear he was saying Obama was a "black cloud" when the whole sentence was simply about calling the debt a black cloud (as in a storm cloud, that is for Pelline, LOL). These folks who refuse to discuss problems when a person that is not white is involved are truly the race hustlers. I have employed people of many races, worked side by side with them for years and I like everybody and they liked me. Pelline is jealous since he is one of those white guilt riddled liberals.

  3. Michael Williams (R) Texas Candidate for congress would take issue with Maxine Waters. Look him up, he's quite the story. Black man, US attorney, worked in the Bush 1 admin and puts the T in tea party.

...Maxine Waters' latest junk is simply another case of liberal hogwash not matching the factual reality.

  4. Now Pelline has reprinted one line from my response and insinuated that I'm a right-wing sympathizer. Anyone who follows the local blogs knows that I'm not shy about roasting Todd, or George, or anyone else over policy. In another post, even Steve Frisch is critical of Ms. Waters, but Jeff always likes to single me out as an 'enabler'. How dishonest can you get?

  5. Pelline has no friends RL. He is an angry little man and we all get to see why the press has gone down the crapper in the USA. Yeah, we all pound on each other but we all still can get along. Pelline burns bridges and in a small town you only have so many bridges.

  6. RL I read your comment over there and hey, how did you find out I am a wing-nut? I resemble that remark. LOL.

  8. Gee, why don't you post the 3 monkey's saying that it was Obama's family and try to convince us of this argument....

Actions speak much louder than your words ever will.

  9. Just a question Todd, you state that Jeff Pelline has no friends, but how come he has 5-10 times the number of people who constantly post on his site verse your rag?

    Maybe it's pacifier time?

  10. Sock puppet Mortenson, hmmm, who are you really? Pelline? Enos? Frisch? You post comments very personal like you think you know me. What a hoot! Regarding my comments. I could care less if anyone posts a comment because that is not why I created my blog you fool. Besides, you have no access to pageviews. Peline has about five commenters and they are like you, a loon, but they are consistent. You liberals are all too predictable, but I wouldn't have it any other way. You are a dinosaur and a liar, but that is a liberal for ya.

  11. Mortensen, the reason Todd doesn't get as many liberal comments has to do with lack of nerve on the part of those declining to post. Of course in your case I believe the reverse has to do with the inability to foresee the possibility of exposing your intelligence.
