FOX Up Obama Down!

Politico has a article that everyone needs to read, here. Most people get their election news coverage from, GASP! FOX!  The story is also about a poll on Obama's road to re-election and how rocky it already is.  Good reading for all, except democrats/liberals that is.

  1. Went down to LA for a reunion this weekend. Most of our friends there are liberals, and the dinner table conversations were most interesting. These highly educated people had very little idea of the issues facing the country - predictably, their news sources were the lamestream media broadcast and print outlets. Everyone asked 'where did you hear that?', and when the answer was Fox, the noses automatically turned skyward. Does this mean that a liberal would rather be ignorant than get information from a politically incorrect source?

  2. George they need to avoid cognitive dissonance an uncomfortable feeling caused by holding two contradictory ideas simultaneously. The "ideas" or "cognitions" in question may include attitudes and beliefs, and also the awareness of one's behavior. The theory of cognitive dissonance proposes that people have a motivational drive to reduce dissonance by changing their attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors, or by justifying or rationalizing their attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. Avoiding FOX NEWS lets them avoid the conflict of ideas.

  3. In case you missed it: LA Times Poll Shows CA Voters Choosing Democrats over GOP

With one week to go before more than 6 million California voters begin to receive their mail-in ballots, top-of-the-ticket Republican candidates remain stuck in neutral, and in some cases, are sliding backward.

Despite spending more than $130 million bombarding the airwaves with ads for over a year, candidate Meg Whitman just can’t seem to buy her way into the hearts of California voters, according to the latest LA Times poll, which shows her five points behind Jerry Brown in the race for governor (Brown 49 – Whitman 44).

Whitman’s poll numbers have been sliding downward in the past few months as the election draws closer -- a stinging rejection for a candidate who has outspent her opponent by 20:1. In fact, Whitman’s paltry ratings (47% unfavorable vs. just 37% favorable) must have her media consultants running for the hills and scratching their heads, wondering why their slick, shiny ads haven’t persuaded Californians to even like their candidate, much less vote for her.

Meg’s fellow CEO counterpart and GOP “running mate” of sorts, Carly Fiorina, also hasn’t earned the trust of California voters, many of whom no doubt find Fiorina’s extremist, right-wing views on abortion, off-shore drilling and the environment, alarming. Fiorina trails Senator Barbara Boxer by eight points, (Boxer 51 – Fiorina 43), despite her barrage of negative attack ads on the Senator.

Still more bad news for Republicans: California remains a state where President Obama remains popular among voters in general and overwhelmingly popular among Democratic voters in particular. Voters here just aren’t buying into the latest rehashed and repackaged right-wing Republican ideas – or candidates – in fact they are rejecting them outright.

  4. Sorry anon, but we are optimistic that California will pull off a Brown type victory. About 15% of voters wait until they are in the booth before they decide. If we are within five we have a good chance. Besides, I don't trust the leftwing LA Times to ever give a unbiased poll or story.

  7. Speaking of Cognitive Dissonance ----

A new Field poll of California released this morning shows Boxer leading Fiorina by six percentage points (47% to 41%), while a new automated SurveyUSA poll yields fewer undecided voters but gives Boxer the same six-point advantage (49% to 43%). A handful of automated surveys in late August and early September suggested a tighter race, including two earlier polls from SurveyUSA that gave Fiorina a slight edge, but the last five surveys conducted since mid-September all show Boxer with nominal leads.
Our standard trend estimate, based on all available public polls, now shows Boxer leading by a roughly three-point margin (47.5% to 44.3%). Our more sensitive trend line, illustrates the tightening in late August. Since the current estimate from that line gives greater weight to more recent polls, it gives Boxer a slightly larger lead (47.8% to 43.2%).

  8. The cable news ratings for the third quarter of 2010 were released today, and Fox News is showing signs of decline as their viewership has decreased by 21%, and their top shows all posted double digit losses, while MSNBC’s shows grew and the network attracted more younger viewers.

Fox News is still dominating the cable news ratings. The network has the top 11 programs in cable news, but there are ominous signs that the empire is starting to crack. Compared to the third quarter of 2009, Fox has lost 21% of their total viewers, and 26% of their younger viewers. The biggest loser on the network was Bill O’Reilly who saw his program The O’Reilly Factor lose 12% of its total viewers and 21% of its young viewers. Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Bret Baier, and Greta Van Susteren rounded out the top five cable news shows, and they each posted double digit declines.

  15. I love the sourcing of the LA Times and H-post; which exactly supports Mr. Steele's original point.

Liberals that read H-post and the LA times are left clueless to reality on many levels.

  16. Gee Barry,

I know why your legal career has done so well when you ask the judge to delete your opposition!

That must be the reason you've done so well locally!
