Moderation back on, sorry
I have the slimey stalker again so I turned the moderation back on this morning. Comments will take some time to arrive after I read them. This anonymous poster floods the place and I once again have turned it in to the Secret Service for attacks on Obama. This slime also uses my name as a poster name so watch out. His/her IP address is in the hands of authorities.

You know, at times it seems like no one here has a civil word for any of the other posters....but then again that is kind of between us, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWhoever is posting spam, and obscenity, and attempting to shut down this forum, should stop immediately. I ask my fellow occasionally posters, who may suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous comment, to join me in asking the Anonymous poster to move on to other pastures.
So I say; Hey Stalker--Go Away!
I vehemently disagree with quite a bit of what Mr. Juvinall has to say; but he has a perfect right to say it, we should support his right to say it, and if we are disgusted by it, choose not to partake.
Thanks Steve for speaking out. Vary admirable. And hats off, for being the first from your side of the fence to speak up.
DeleteAnd a great big pat on the back for the 1ST Amendment reference.
I don't hear many from the Left defending these days.
I really disagree with Todd's posts. I have nothing in common with him or Walt. We simply think and live differently. It's problematic when it comes to our government and taking care of the less fortunate. We will never agree on religion and government where there is supposed to be a separation. We will never agree on education - it should be for everyone, free, and supported by government. My values are in direct opposition to Todd's and Walt's. I believe in and value people, my neighbors, old acquaintances, new friends, family and community. I love intellectual pursuits, education, books, workshops, and study. I care about my body. I am a vegetarian. I participate in yoga and exercise. I take my vitamins. I care about myself and I care about you. I care that you find peace, have people that love you. I support the notion that you thrive.
ReplyDeleteGiven all that - can you allow me to be me with respect? Can you share, in a personal way, who you are in this world?
Susan C, I really disagree with your posts too but for different reasons. From a psychological standpoint you would appear to be saying all the things you are for I am against. I find that curious and would like to explore how you come to that conclusion.
DeleteYou views are the standard liberal criticisms of a conservative and I have heard that most of my life. But you never give any proof to your complaints. The misunderstandings of the liberal mind is breathtaking. I think I will use your comment as the lead in to a post. It is a good example of the lefts views of the right. Thanks.
I think people are confusing views, as in political views, and values here. I think all of us care about people, that they should be free, and thrive, that they should have love and shelter, that they should have opportunity, knowledge and health. These are bedrock human values, and common to almost the entire human condition. What we disagree on is how and what role 'society', or the collective cultural, political and social infrastructure we share, has in nurturing these things--is it more active or less, more directed or less, more local or regional or national or less, more tied to specific moral precepts deriving from religious tradition, or less? I think that if all of us spent more time reflecting on the values we share before discussing the political approach we apply the entire discussion would be both more civil and more productive. The misunderstanding we share is a two way street.
ReplyDeleteOne value we appear to share is free speech, and an antipathy to those who would block free speech by nefarious means.
Aye, it's ok to have strong diverse opinion, but personal attacks should be out of bounds, anonymous or not.
ReplyDeleteI was unable to see the said posts, but it seems that there were personal attacks.
Let's return to factual, civil opinion and debate. Let's cut the personal attacks.
