Congressman LaMalfa in town today

Congressman LaMalfa and Moi today!
Our Congressman held a townhall today in the Grass Valley City Council chambers from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.  The room was 3/4's full and I saw a few people I know.  Thom Staser, George and JoAnne Rebane, and some other leaders from NID and Grass Valley too.  Doug said he had bad allergies and lost total hearing in his left ear.  Boy can I relate to that!

The first half hour was Doug discucing the Iran "geta nuke deal) executive action.  Obama said this is no "treaty" and you saps in Congress just butt out.  But if you think you have something to say about it, institute a new piece of law that says you can vote on the "deal" and if you turn it down I will veto that action.  Then both of you Republican led entities can override me with 2/3rds!  Well some of the discussion was "isn't that all backwards"?  Doesn't the Constitution say only the Senate can vote on treaties and it takes a 2/3rds vote to confirm?  Well some the Senate caved to some bill called the "Corker" law and now we have a mess.  Doug's postion is against the "executive action" necasue it relies on trusting the Iranians.  He and I do not trust the Iranians with 25 cents let alone "secret" installations where they will build those nukes.

He talked a bit about water here in California and a some about the forests burning down.  All connected of course and all run by incompetent bureaucracies. (my words)  He is supporting the construction of a reservoir in the valley and is trying to work a land sale or exchange for some BLM land to facilitate the Centennial Dam proposed for the Bear River.  He came under fire from a couple of people who oppose those.

Then as he called on others for questions it bacame apparent to me and others that the local democrats and their extremist members wer there to toss their views at LaMalfa.  Of course there were a few "global warmers" and they were sure mouthy.  Always threatening their votes.  Hell they would no mopre vote for him anyway but he was calm and did his best to answer them.  I must say these "true believers" are really motivated.  They are also so extreme they list about last on the polls taken regarding the most pressing issues.  But they are loud and persistent.  They are also wrong.

So all in all I think Doug LaMalfa handled the meeting OK.  He did let the ones that wished to argue, argue a bit and if I have any criticism it would be to not engage them and allow other questions.  But that is just me.  We have a good representative and as a farmer, LaMalfa is truly one of us.  So he knows all the problems and hopefully he will have the answers.  I think he will.

  1. Very good Todd. Read the article in the paper and Linda Campbell's nutty outburst. Unfortunately, she suffers from what she accuses others of doing....propaganda...hook, line and sinker. BMW

    1. She really sounded unhinged. Like those protestors shouting at Bernie Sanders on "black lives matter" the other day.

  2. Well, what does Mr. Frisch have to say about this!

Nearly three years after California voters passed a ballot measure to raise taxes on corporations and generate clean-energy jobs by funding energy-efficiency projects in schools, barely one-tenth of the promised jobs have been created, and the state has no comprehensive list to show how much work has been done or how much energy has been saved.

Money is trickling in at a slower-than-anticipated rate, and more than half of the $297 million given to schools so far has gone to consultants and energy auditors. The board created to oversee the project and submit annual progress reports to the Legislature has never met, according to a review by The Associated Press.

    1. I read it too. The SBC types could care less since it is not their money. What a scam perped on the citizens of the state. Now we get to see one more waste of money like the bullet train and tunnels under the delta.
