Partisanship at the local level political races? Oh my!

What does this little purple monster think?  Is Nevada County becoming a color this little critter thinks is so pretty?  We hear from a "purple" color expert that we are now a MOTR county and better get used to it.  MOTR meaning a "middle of the road" county, equalizing the total type of voters here as one half liberals and one half conservatives.  Could this be so?

Well not yet.  The right still has the majority of the plurality.  Our county has seen a growing number of "decline to state" voters over the years which does reflect a dissatisfaction with the two major parties.  So why are they decline to state?  Why aren't these DTS voters going to the other parties like the Greens, Libertarian and Peace and Freedom?  America has as many parties as the British do yet for some reason the major parties still garner the bulk of the voters.  I realize there are people who want to express their "independence" from the so-called "status quo" of politics, and so refuse to register as any party.  Yet, the political world whether left or right, the world that wants things to be implemented, meaning policy or law, has to be organized into some sort of relevant organizations.

Sure, left and right parties are easy to potshot.  Liberals/democrats for their "anything goes in life" attitudes and the right/conservatives "we like to maintain what works well" status quo like policies, but it keeps a lot of people unhappy.  Here in Nevada County and the surrounding region, we have liked the conservative folks for many years.  Even at the local level most of the elected folks have been Republicans reflecting the majority of voters.  California elsewhere is the opposite for the most part.  Democrats have been in charge of the State Assemble and Senate most of my life.  (I actually got to work with Assemblyman Bernie Richter in 1996 for a few months when the R's had the majority by one vote for one year!)

But locally we have usually elected conservative folks, people with a "tightwad" regimen when it comes to the taxpayers money.  Liberals usually screw the pooch when they are in majority (overreach)  and thank goodness our county let them run things into the ground only for a couple of years.  Then the voters regained consciousness and put the adults back in charge.  That retaking of the communities governance by adults of the right has been proven time after time.  Yet, we do have some flatlanders that have moved here who think that "purple" is now upon us.

The part that is fascinating to me about the "purple" view is it is really bogus.  I think it is similar, if not the same as the lamestream reporters in America claim to report unbiased.  We know they are 90% liberals and vote 80% to 90% democrat, but they claim they are "unbiased" in their reporting.  Well, we know it s total BS because we read their stories and know they are lying.  That is why the "purple-man", the local self proclaimed "righteous" reporter is not taken seriously.  Whenever a conservative is running he claims that is bad and partisan and complains no end.  When a democrat/liberal is running or elected, that is fair and balanced and non partisanship is not discussed.  He thinks all those folks in our community are just dumb I guess.

The dirty little secret is the community laughs at the purple fellow.  His few adherents slap him on the back and agree with him but five people are not the community.  The "yes" men/women who agree with the purple fellow are themselves "uber" partisans on the left, not one conservative among them.  That is a real skewed view of things and does tend to lead people on the left who refuse to read other sources, into a distorted opinion, left oriented at all times.

At least we on the right read and watch all sources and try and get a balanced view.  I think it works well when you are able to at least interact with opposing viewpoints.  It is not possible though with the lefty and the purple.  They accept no opposing point and usually begin name calling then censoring.  We on the right usually only boot them f they start name calling,, but not for opposing views.  I have allowed "anonymous" to post on my blog at times if they stay respectful.  But not on the lefty sites.

In Grass Valley their is a "uber" partisan democrat running for city council.  The purple man refuses to hold the democrat to the same criticism as he does others running who may be Republicans.  This bias by the purple man is helpful to all since it shows the lack of veracity of a democrat/lefty in political discourse.  Instead of treating all participants equally in the criticism of partisanship he coddles the left and trashes the right while claiming a "purpleness".  All I can say is keep it going Mr. Purple, you make our case the left is spewing a pack of lies when they claim they are unbiased.

  1. Reminds me of that little tune ," Fly'n purple people eater."
Yup, I have made a post or two on some Lefty sites, either they never get posted or are removed because the facts I presented, they couldn't refute.
( CLAIM is a good example)

  2. It is pretty common for upper, white middle class people to be socially liberal, but economically conservative. I don't really see the issue with that kind of purple.

  5. Gotta love the part of the story where CBS "has NO comment".
And some say The "fix" isn't in.LOL!
Now there is word of the NY Times spiking news stories that put some LIBS
in a bad light. ( like that's a real shocker)
No wonder LIBS get POed about Conservative news sources. LIBS hate it when their double dealings get exposed to the light of day.

  6. Walt, the one thing that you seemed to forgotten is that you seem to represent the extreme section of the Republican party. I consider myself to be a financial conservative "middle of the road" person, but the Republican's have taken such a extreme position that I can hardly support their platform anymore, let alone call myself Republican.

I do believe that we should all pay more taxes, and allowing the top people with the whole concept of “trickle down economics” has shown us nothing but failure as the jobs have never materialized.

I also believe that people do not "deserve" the home mortgage deduction, and that corporations should pay zero taxes, as if we want to create jobs then let businesses spend their money do just that.

Many of the points that the Republican leadership has taken are purely divisive and not meant to move this country forward.

  7. Oh sure a communist that'll generate more jobs than either of these two buffoons, as well as lower the national debt.

I also don't think we should give Israel any money too, as they have problems with doing the right thing, so why should we support them?

They want to get away with behaving badly, then let them handle the repercussions of their actions!
