Romney and crew close the week looking good!

I got a call from a friend who said he was going to be on the stage in Tampa tonight and  said what?  His name will remain unknown to you all but I saw two people with his name on the stage tonight!  Well, his name is not an unusual one and it was fun to see it on the crawl.

Mitt Romney, Marco Rubio and Clint Eastwood.  Now that was quite a night.   I bet the lamestreams are already trashing Clint for his shtick of an empty chair.  Rubio did great but he had a gaffe at the end I heard and that will be the lead of the lamestreams no doubt.  Obama lamestream sheeple are busily fact checking every word and publishing their slams as I write this.  I don't seem to recall them fact checking their favorite any time, even as he claims America has 57 states.

But the night belongs to Romney.  He is our standard bearer for the top job and I think he did a fine job of articulating the differences between a sitting leftwing President and a free enterprise, right leaning Romney.  Jobs jobs jobs.  America needs jobs and Obama and his minions have not produced the atmosphere to allow their creation.  In fact, thousand of new regulations and the promise of higher taxes and less freedom are Obama's hopes.  If there ever was a liar in the Oval Office, well, we had Clinton too, Obama tops the scale.  The only promise he kept from 2008 was the sea has not risen.

Romney will get the place in order and the hope restored.  All those college grads now living with mom and dad will be able to venture out on their own as job opportunities return after we turn out Obama and his stifling Administration.  Romney tonight and Ryan last night have given America a positive "something" to look forward to.  But now the work begins.  However we will have the democrat convention in Charlotte to get through.  The democrats will lie their way through the three days because they have no moral and ethical compass guiding them any longer.  Sandra Fluke, the condom babe, will be a main speaker for goodness sakes.  I bet these nuts will parade ever segment of deviancy past the cameras for the three days and then tell us all that is what their America is all about.

Romney and Ryan and all the folks we saw and heard at this week's convention were speaking of hope, the American dream, freedom and prosperity.  Success should be honored not dishonored as the left and Obama have been saying.  Rubio was a excellent example of a generation of new Americans who want to see the reason their parents came here, protected and passed down.  His personal stories and Condelezza Rice's personal stories were inspiring for all.  The democrat slime merchants call these great Americans "shills" or worse.

So America will get to see the differences between the democrats and Republicans and my guess is the democrats are toast.  Americans are an optimistic people, we don't covet the goods and riches of others.  We work hard for ourselves and our families and when asked to, we help those that cannot help themselves.  We saw a rejection of the nanny state by these Republicans over the last three days and the inspiration of American success.  The democrats will be showing us what a big giveaway government is all about and it won't sell.

Great convention on to November and victory for all Americans.

    2. Here is the ACCURATE Calvin Coolidge quote:

The real statement comes from a speech by Calvin Coolidge called "The Press Under a Free Government" which was given before the American Society of Newspaper Editors in Washington, D.C. on January 17, 1925. The quote is really: "After all, the chief business of the American people is business." However, Coolidge goes on to say that, "Of course the accumulation of wealth cannot be justified as the chief end of existence." He discusses journalism and the thought that the business interests of newspaper owners should not taint reporting. He continues, "American newspapers have seemed to me to be particularly representative of this practical idealism of our people."

    1. Walt,
Although not voting for Obama and not a big fan, I can't stand to sit by and let you spew falsehoods. When Obama took office in January 2009 the US was losing 700,000 jobs a month. I don't know what the figure is but he has had somewhere around 30 straight months of job growth. The watered down stimulus has been estimated at creating 2 million jobs. Public sector jobs in state governments have been reduced by 2.5% and 70% of those layoffs were in 12 republican controlled states, which keeps the federal level of unemployment above 8%.

      Delete
    2. Well hell BenE, I thought Obama was running to fix all that. Hope and change and that. Why would he run knowing the problem and claiming to fix it if he was elected then blame Bush? You just don't understand he asked for the job and failed at the fix.

    3. Well Todd,
It is hard to fix something that is being sabotaged by half of the team. Yes team, our government is supposed to be us and to be representing our interests as whole. I find what has been taking place to literally be something along the lines of treason. Not because I am an Obama supporter because to take down the President real peoples lives were destroyed and the country as a whole has suffered.

Here is a link to a story about the leaders in Congress met to sabotage the Obama presidency. http://www.vanityfair.com/online/wolcott/2012/03/The-Conspiracy-to-Commit-Legislative-Constipation

      Attendees-

Attending the dinner were House members Eric Cantor, Jeb Hensarling, Pete Hoekstra, Dan Lungren, Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan and Pete Sessions. From the Senate were Tom Coburn, Bob Corker, Jim DeMint, John Ensign and Jon Kyl. Others present were former House Speaker and future – and failed – presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and the Republican strategist Frank Luntz, who organised the dinner and sent out the invitations.

      Strategy- Obstructionism

They would take back the House in November 2010, which they did, and use it as a spear to mortally wound Obama in 2011 and take back the Senate and White House in 2012, Draper writes.
"If you act like you're the minority, you're going to stay in the minority," said Keven McCarthy, quoted by Draper. "We've gotta challenge them on every single bill and challenge them on every single campaign."

A political party has meetings on how they will deal with the other political party, oh my goodness! The thing you two forget (conveniently) is the democrats have held the Senate since 2006. The R bills to fix the country are in a lockbox over there and Harry Reid won't let the key be released. So is that a conspiracy? Is Harry and the 53 democrats a cabal? Jeeze!

    6. Todd,
What the leadership and the more than willing participants of the republican legislature are doing is disgusting and as I said before borderline on treason. This to win an election and control to push a sociopath agenda that promotes the welfare of a small privileged few and screws the rest is unjustifiable.

I am not a Democrat and I have plenty to gripe about with the party but what the republican party has become is antithetical to any populist ideals during any time in American history.

    7. BenE, you are too much. Treason? Please, give my readers a break. You really are out there. What, no mention of the Reid part of my comment? Are he and the dems being treasonous for not passing a budget for political reasons. Are they treasonous for holding up over 40 House passed bills and not allowing debate on them?

I want to hear all about your comment above "I am not a Democrat and I have plenty to gripe about with the party". Seems yuou just ream R's all the time and then do a pattycake with the liberal democrats. We have your number BenE, you give it to us in every post.

    8. Todd,
There is more than enough Democratic Party bashing here. I find your most of your complaints to be window dressing and lacking any kind of substance. The things I oppose about the Democratic Party could apply to the Republican Party in many cases. Here is a list of problems I have with the Democratic Party leadership off the top of my head and I am sure it could much bigger than what I can think right now. The sad thing is you would agree with the D's on most of these issues.

      -Patriot Act
      -FISA Act
      -Guantanamo
      -Torture
-No debate about use of military force on the floor of congress
      -Wars without congressional declarations
      -Kill lists
      -Suspension of Habeas Corpus
      -Violation of Due Process
      -Ignoring Bill of Rights
-Blind support for increasing defense budget
-Extension tax breaks (temporary) for wealthy
      -Capping FICA at $106,800
-Exemption from FICA with Capital Gains/ Dividends
-Taxing Capital at a lower rate than labor
-Occupying sovereign nations for strategic resources
-Appointing the bankers that caused the crisis to be those who "fix" it
-Taking corporate money while at the same time taking Labor Union money, Trial Lawyer money, money from average Americans
-Opposing public financing because they want to hang on their advantage and power
-Opposing Instant Run Off Voting or Proportionate Representation because they are afraid of losing their advantage or power
-The ignoring the progressive base of the party and those outside of the party
-Putting Medicare and Social Security on the table
-Maintaining 900 foreign military bases in 140 nations
-Arresting single payer advocates while allowing lobbyists from health insurance, pharmaceutical, and medical industries at the table
-Abandoning labor and US workers for campaign and party funding by corporations
      -Supporting Free Trade Agreements
      -Supporting US participating in WTO
-Being controlled and influenced by Military Industrial Complex
-Allowing the immigration debate be framed about workers instead of employers
-Allowing a million loopholes in the tax system to allow the wealthy and huge corporations to pay zero in federal income taxes
-Suppressing any outside political party's that would threaten to take their progressive base
-Support the coup's and puppet regimes that violate human rights to appease corporate interests
-Continuing doing business with nations such as China and Saudi Arabia despite their absolute violations of natural and human rights

I don't hate the place but rather oppose many of the policies in place at the moment. Let me ask you this- Do you or did you support the policies of the New Deal? If not why didn't you go to another country?

      Delete
    12. The New Deal was before my time BenE. I am a 1950 birthed guy. As far as my opinion on them? It appears the policies had no affect on the unemployment numbers (20%+) after the first 8 years or so so I would have to give it a failure notice. If WW2 had not happened the country might still be mired in the Great Depression.

      Delete
    13. Todd,
So the new deal and the policies of the four FDR administrations had nothing to do with the America you grew up and lived in.

      Are you that dumb?

Everything in your childhood and into your young adulthood was founded in the policies of the FDR and progressive policies from the 1930's through the great society. You know the America you want to return too. All those policies created an America that was #1 in the world for finished products/ exports, #1 in lending money to other nations, #1 importing raw materials, #1 in size and strength of middle class. The national debt was a non-issue at $900 billion despite having WWII, undeclared military occupations of Korea and Vietnam on the books. Reagan came in started dismantling the policies and added $3 trillion to the debt. We have followed those ideas of supply side, deregulation, and free trade to their disastrous conclusions that led us to where we are today. #1 debtor nation in world history $15 trillion and $700 billion trade deficit annually. #1 exporter of raw materials. #1 importer of finished goods. And having the largest gap of wealth inequality in the developed world because of the policies you and your ilk have been promoting and controlling for the last three decades.

    14. BenE. I see your reading skills are as bad as your logic. Where did I say the New Deal policies had nothing to do with the America I grew up in? Sheesh, no wonder you were whipped in your election attempt. You must have done a lot of fibbing.

Let me see. My dad came home from the Pacific and was mustered out in September 45'. He saved all his paychecks for four years and came to GV in December of 45' and bought a ranch which had no structure on it. He paid cash and then built a house. He never used the GI Bill and he started his own construction business. He did that until 1977 and then retired. Four months after turning 62 he passed away. He drew four Social Security checks one of which they made my mother send back. So after paying into the system for forty years he got three SS checks. My mother got zip because she was a homemaker and nine years younger.

Dad never took any welfare, foodstamps or other government money all his life and we survived. He seems to have paid in for many years and he supplied jobs for a few hundred people during his work years.

So bud, you have to be a dumbass to think like you do. I grew up in and around people who did for themselves (entrepreneurs) , played by the rules and were honest, law abiding folks who paid their taxes. How about it, BenE, are you doing the same?

      Delete
    15. Well Todd,
Do you even know what the New Deal and FDR policies did? Do some homework and then come back to the big boy table. It is a touching story about your parents, I think a many Americans have very similar stories. I guess no matter what you can never realize that SS was helping your neighbor, dad's clients, orphaned friend, ect... It is a Social Security Insurance program. But if it didn't help your family personally to the hell with the program. I'll tell you a story of an 81 year family friend I am a conservator too. He worked for 50 plus years paying into SS. He never married or had children. At 77 years old he was diagnosed with Dementia. Lost his drivers license and ability to get around. He entered into a assisted care and without his SS on top of his pension from IGA he would be either be dead or in the streets. He contributed to this country in so many way that it cannot be measured and since his ability to be monetary productive has diminished he should be discarded by your philosophy.

How about you Todd, have you used any government programs to help you out? Have you owned up to all of your debts? Have you ever exploited the system for personal gain?

      Delete
    16. Dodging the question eh BenE. Are you even paying attention? It appears not. Your friend who I guess you are being paid by the taxpayers to take care of is a sad ale. But you totally misunderstand the New Deal. Do you even know what it was? Apparently not.

I would suggest you go to the library, take out some books on it and start reading. Your ignorance about it is palpable. I just can't teach you things you should have learned in school.

So, put those Bermuda shorts on, a T-shirt that says "spank me" on the back and try to keep up. Amazing ignorance.

    17. Todd,
Nope I don't get paid anything to help other human beings in need, I do it because it is the correct thing to do.

I know what the New Deal and FDR policies are and what they created. That is why I defend them and give examples how they created the largest strongest middle class in world history. There is no denying the history of this period of economic growth in America.

You are determined to live the remainder of you life in ignorance that is you choice. I strongly suggest you read about Frances Perkins. I have and she is one of the most incredible women of the 20th Century. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=102959041

It will be interesting to see how "Christians" will vote. Unfortunately, the ruling class has convinced the middle class and poor to vote with them by hitting hot button issues like homosexuality, choice and abortion.

If a candidate from either side raps themselves with the flag and aligns on these moral issues, they can get groups to blindly follow them in policies that actually could feed greed and hurt the masses. There is the crux of the issue. Will the policies hurt or help the masses? Let's not get blinded by the politicians from either side.

Also, traditionally, "Christians" have viewed mormons as counterfeits, a false believe with a similar moral stance. So, it will be very interesting to see if the "Christians" support Romney in this election.

    This election will be telling.

    2. BTW, I did a little looking. Something you should have done before popping off. That prescription drug thing your griping about was snuffed by your friendly neighborhood Libs, when they had control of both houses. ( Damn those small details.)

    3. Aye, there have been plenty of wars by both parties that can be considered immoral. Definitely the Iraq war had overtones in that vein. We'll see how
history treats that in time. So far it's too close for comfort.

Hopefully, 'O' and whomever is next takes steps toward peace and only using force when it is a true moral imperative.

    4. I did real well under the Bush Presidency as did many of my friends. Those folks were left and right. Then you libs took Congress in 2006 and the place went to hell in a hand-basket. Look in the mirror honey, you are the problem, we Republicans are the solution.

    5. Things did seem good in GW's first term and part of the 2nd term. I think that globalization moves that preceded him, e.g., NAFTA, moves toward outsourcing overseas, and trade deficits. Without care, the economy can and did change, globalization.

I also did well back then. Now its a bit tougher. We've got to step-up and adapt to compete, and our politicians need to ensure a level playing field with foreign competitors.

      Delete
    6. I am a free trade fellow but you are right about the level playing field. Tariffs and open markets are major issues especially in China. Our goods need the same freedom of sales as we have given Chinese goods.

      Delete
    7. I wonder how they make the decisions on Tariffs and level playing field. We, the public, only get glimpse on a few items on the list of issues. There seems to be fear about the blow-back from foreign countries if we do level the field. There's a narrow and seemingly treacherous path to navigate.

      Delete
    8. Scott,
We, the US, don't get to control tariffs any longer. The WTO has stripped away our controls over much of how our economy works.

    9. Todd,
You "did well" based on a bubble. You did well based on one big fraud of an economy. Now WE the People want our money back from the fraud! The fraud of the Bush years was erpetrated by everyone who ran with the irresponsible Bush policies of the early 2000s. We are no safer now that we spent a couple of trillion dollars on those insane wars, and thanks to Dubya, we are forced to raise taxes and make painful cuts.

    13. Didn't like the war. What does that comment about a burka have to do with any war we've been in since 2001? Was the Taliban going to invade America? Maybe Saddam's republican guard?

Gee, you're a smart one Walt!

I bet you like to drive a car. Right?
Don't get caught behind a wheel "over there".
Now the Muslim Bro. hood has taken over the Middle East, and now has their sights set on Western civilization. Ever hear of Sharia law? They want US to impose that here, and some lunatic judges are actually helping them with that. Hear of honor killings? One or two judges think they should be allowed to have "their own religious law" here.
      Get some education next time.

    1. Don't you think that's old news? Come on... You can do better than that.
"Born in Hawaii" is vary questionable. Facts in evidence seem to point elsewhere.( fact) Lets take a peek at a few...#1 The published "document" is an admitted fake.(maybe not by "O", but his attorney did)
"O" will under no circumstances let the recorded one out for public scrutiny. WHY??????)
#2 "O" won't open his school records for the public eye. Why not? Bush had too... ( Libby double standard applies here)
#3 His own damned book makes comments to that fact.
      #4 His Granny said so!
#5 Then LIBS throw the Natural born citizen rule out the window.
(The book of revisionism applies here) His Father wasn't a citizen no matter how you swing it.

Like I said. Just a few. Not vary "transparent" is he?
And you and your side just take his "word"( and Progressive news) at face value. " OK,, what ever ya"say dude,,, you got my vote,, I love your smile. That's good enough for me!"

Now if this had happened to be a Repub. with this kind of questionable baggage, the Left would have had a field day. ( again,, double standard applies)

OK,,Now it's your turn. Lets hear how Obummer is held to the same standards as a Repub.? Let's hear how after four years he can still say, " It's not my fault, Bush did it!"

    2. Walt your facts are lies. Try snopes and you will see that the facts you cite are just bs. You won't accept a certified birth certificate yet demand more records. Truly irrational behavior. You should try reading they requirements to be the president. I do agree that President Obama isn't transparent, but name a president that was. But your assertion that progressives voted for President Obama because of a smile is childish. The GOP decided to oppose Everything proposed by our president to further the GOP and conservatives at the expense of our nation. Party before country dude. So Bush decided to go to war against Iraq that had ZERO involvement in 911 and no WMDS and you give President Bush a pass and whine about debt under the current president. You conservatives own one hell of a lot of responsibility for our nation's debt. Democrats also own responsibility as well. However in Wally World all is regressive and blame is only to be focused on LIBS. Time to try reality.

    3. Like I thought. You take his B.C. at face value. Yup,, it's a certified FAKE. I can source many a web site to that fact. And you site ONE, of questionable credibility. Not to mention spending 3 million to keep it hid. So,, nothing to hide? That's sure an expensive " Nuttin to see here."
Again you want to "revise" ,,"Natural Born". Typical LIB gamesmanship. So what about his school records???
It's time to leave Bush out of it. This is ALL "O". You can Chase that rabbit all you like.

Gotta love that "blame Bush". Will that be "O"'s primary line in the debates? LOL " I'm blameless... It's..it's my predecessors fault.
I inherited this! ( never mind that I single handedly spent more than anyone in U.S. history)
Party before country you say? OH,, Glad you brang that up.
What did the GOP just do in MO.? That's right,, they cut him off of any funding, and wanted him to step down. Now to "O" " Win by any means necessary.

At least you tried. I will give you that. You picked the easy targets as suspected, but never really touching the hard stuff.

Our nation is in the crapper because of LIBS pure and simple.
You blame Bush, but fail to recognize that Queen Nan and Prince Harry were in charge the second half of the Bush term. Forget that little detail? If Bush signed it, LIBS wrote it.
Now you want to point fingers at the Conservatives once again.
Forget the supermajority? For TWO YEARS "O" passed everything he wanted. But somehow us Conservatives get the heat. ONLY in the mid term elections did we take the lower house. Sticking with me here??
You on the Left lost your ass that night.
Harry Reid is sitting on how many bills? And you want to blame us? LOL!!

Then there is the little problem with the budget... 3 and a half years? Really???? Good luck pinning that on us as well. The LIB budget didn't get one vote. LIBS won't let the Conservative budget come up for a vote. I guess that's out fault too.

      Yes.. Time to try reality.

  19. Todd.. It's time to place some bets. We both know how desperation has set in with "O" and Co.

So think they will gin up and stage a "tea Party" activist disruption? The need to try and make someone look bad other than their sorry selves.
Some Progressives tried that at the RNC, and received a good old fashioned "bums rush" right out the door. CODE PINK didn't stand a chance.

Yup,, count on Libs to stage some fake hate. They had some practice staging a few fake faintings at "O"'s speeches.
Nothing is below them at this point.

Now.. Glen Beck was nice enough not to hold his own "little"(lol) get together in Iowa AFTER "O" has his vote begging this week.
Just think how empty the convention would be if Beck decided to hold his event at the same time? Our LIBS have no clue how many of their own went to Texas to add support for Beck's cause. ( I happen to have met quite a few
    X-Lefties when we were there.

    "
    Jay Bookman
Romney post-convention bump looks modest at best

    "9:33 am September 3, 2012, by Jay

The folks at Gallup have completed their post-GOP convention polling duties, and the reviews are not complimentary. Mitt Romney has enjoyed little or no post-convention bump, and his acceptance speech was rated excellent or good by just 38 percent of those who saw it.

While that may not sound terrible, Gallup reports that it is easily the worst rating given to any of the last eight convention acceptance speeches. "

    Accordng to Gallup

By that measure, the 2012 Republican convention had the lowest-ever self-reported net impact on voter intentions ever (+2, the difference between the more and less likely percentages), just slightly lower than the Republican conventions of 2004 (+3) and 2008 (+5).

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well PaulE what are you doing here? Slumming eh?

I think you have to add in all the twitter, Facebook, Blaze and the hundreds if not thousands of other sources people used to watch the convention. I don't think the country that will be booting you libs from office cares about the ratings for the convention. But you can keep your hope alive.

Rush alone has 20 million listeners a week. Your favorite MSNBC has what 100,000?

Regarding the "lowest impact" on voters. The country has made up ts mind for the most part and it will be Romney/Ryan by 7. We keep the House and gain the Senate. Life is sweet.
