Fracking under attack by democrats in the California legislature

I was watching a bit of testimony the other day on SB4 Pavley which is a massive regulatory law on the fracking of natural gas.  Now I am not an expert by any stretch on fracking, I think locally George Rebane and Russ Steele are, but I do know my gas bill at home is lower now and many people say fracking is the reason. Oh and HERE is a list of high paying jobs here in our state in gas and oil.

Here is a snippet of what caused the democrat tyrants of California the angst and desire to regulate.  It appears our loony federal court judges have done it again.  Ruling as follows:

"SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Federal land managers violated a key environmental law when they auctioned off the rights to drill for oil and gas on 2,500 acres of prime public land in Monterey County, home to one of the largest deposits of shale oil in the nation, a judge ruled
U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal said in a ruling posted Sunday that the Bureau of Land Management should have conducted a comprehensive environmental review of the potential impacts caused by fracking before accepting bids for the drilling rights, in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act."

So here is a perfect example of why America doesn't work well any more. The free market finds a way to produce more energy (even the left used to like natural gas), it becomes a success, many people prosper so the eco-nuts and their democrat legislative lackey's freak out.  They have to stop the success!  They use lies and hyperbole to denigrate the process, the energy source itself and GASP! Republicans!  They start the same old crap by demonizing "big oil", (whatever that is), and causing all sorts of fear about the fracking process.  Of course the process takes place hundreds if not thousands of feet below any water tables.  And other than the phony-baloney movie "Gasland", there has been no environmental catastrophes.

But as usual, the anti-capitalist left, eco's, democrats and anarchists, go after the process through legislation here in California.  SB4 is the newest attack on reasonably processed energy.  I listened to the numskull from LA, this Senator Pavley  and I have to say, the eco fools got a good puppet (among many).  Here is a process to extract a widely used energy and one that enables cheap costs to the poor and middle class homeowners, renters and industrial (job producing businesses) building owners, and these lovelies want to regulate it into oblivion!

Monterey shale reserves are huge.  HERE is a bit of information about them and a map of their locations.

SB4 along with some other proposed bills would hamstring California's production of energy at a time of high unemployment and some of the highest living costs in America.  I guess I am unable to understand the lunacy of the California democrat and maybe never will.  Along with a bunch of Federal judges, most in need of a re-up on their jobs and oaths (don't male laws, boys and girls) we don't have a chance for common sense rearing its head in the Golden State.

Along with AB32 and thousands of other ridiculous laws and regulations passed by our kids under the dome, California will become the third world of the Pacific Rim pretty soon.  We can't seem to use our own resources and that will be our demise.

  1. Not a single mention of fracking's documented impacts. Therefore, your take on this controversial issue is totally invalid.

    1. Well heck rumba, my bro in law is a geologist and is involved with the process on a daily basis. I think my sources are just fine. Please tell the readers your expertise in fracking. Inquiring minds want to know.

    2. I also studied geology in college and grad school. But fracking is a very, very new technology- the way it is being used today. The team at Cornell is at the cutting edge of research, and warning us to be very, very careful. I'd go with them over Todd's bro in law.

  2. Talk about lies and hyperbole, here is what the bill does: "For the first time [in California], frackers would need to obtain a permit, give 30-day’s notice of operations to nearby property owners, and provide regulators with a list of chemicals they plan to use. The bill provides for trade secret protections the industry wants, but also requires them to fund air and water quality monitoring. Many of these regulations are similar to ones either proposed or already in place in numerous other states."

How could one possible be against requiring a permit, informing near by property owners who have a stake in the value of their own property, protecting public health by understanding what chemicals are being injected into our ground water, and monitoring the results?

    1. Steve, I see it somewhat analogous with the NRA's background check fear mongering. Of course they wouldn't want you to know whats in the fracking cocktails- god forbid the billion dollar extraction companies might suffer when the public finds out the horrendous carcenigens that may be in the mix. Wouldn't want that.

    2. Sorry SteveF, my bro in law is a geologist and is in the know. You know zip. The process is as I have said. The point here is we don't need the bill and the regulations. The industry is also against the bills. The process has been going on since the 40's and is mainly water. Well blow the water tables. Fear mongers like you though have done it again. If it moves, tax it.

    3. Roomba, it appears your ilk is doing the fear mongering. I think you have it off 180 degrees. All the natural gas producers want to do is bring us customers cheap energy. You want to regulate and tax it to high cost.

    4. Yes, we need to tax and regulate it. Bingo. When an extraction industry creates these impacts and pulls in billions, YES, we need to extract taxes from said industry, and in CA, we definitely will.

Cheap energy is dirty energy. Millions of Americans get this, more every day. Keystone is going down, bro.

    5. What impacts? All the science is on my side. Also, read today's Union for the AP story on how this energy extraction is saving our US economy. No, there are no reasons except grubby money mongers in government wanting more money., The jobs amd taxes paid by the companies and their employees are filling the cofers of government but that is not enough here in the once "Golden State".

    6. Yup, energy is a driver of growth right now in North Dakota and Texas. Wouldn't want to live there, but if folks wanna go there for work, have at it! And like billionaires who have continued to rake it in since the recession began, the industry can afford to foot a little more of the tax stream. America agreed with Obama on this very point in 2012.

    7. I know, you would rather live in California on welfare, the weather suits you. LOL! You are just another unformed person who is a lost cause for rational thinking. Study fracking and its history and then get back to us.

    8. Far from welfare, chump. Since you are not working apparently, I'm obviously pulling in a lot more income than you are. CA is NOT Texas and ND, thank god. Never will be

Study the concerns of fracking from states like NY, read the myriad of articles about the impacts, watch the many films that have been made, read the stories about the affected residents with fracking in their communities, then get back to me.

    9. Roomba, There are no articles (only econut ones) and there is one movie recently made by an anti fracking nut. So you are just a BS'er, like all you eco freaks. Adios chump. You must be on welfare, no one can be that dumb.

    10. nah, no articles. No studies. Ooh, that's why CA is taking a prudent approach to an impactful activity. The young people, the future of America understand the importance of a healthy planet. Thats one reason why Obama whipped your boy Mitt in 2012. Good luck in your retirement and your constant frustration!

  3. Haven't you figured out yet that this web site merely serves to highlight what a cartoon you are? Don't you get it Todd, the only reason people come back here is to laugh at you. You are the main character in our own local on-line Dogpatch. Coming here is a diversion, something people do while drinking coffee....oh, think I'll go over the SDB and see what the town idiot is saying today. In the world of the local web replacing print you have replaced Li'l Abner as a parody of hillbilly.

    1. Steve Frisch, now now are you sure you want to start the name calling? Well, I guess you do. Sure, I am a cartoon, I am the TSA Super Hero and you are what? Porky Pig! What a hoot!

When I want to see what is wrong with America, I go over to the SBC website (which get zero hits) so I can remember why America is in deep crapola. SBC hired a failed, portly cook who failed to pay his employees taxes he had withheld to the tune of what #$250,000! Isn't that right Steve Frisch? Oh, and that is the truth isn't it Steve Frisch? (all public records)

So, sure, you can call me a cartoon but I really don't care. I can call you a man who didn't pay his employees withholding and I would be telling reality. What a hoot. Go drink your koolaid.

  6. Do you actually think that you can embarrass me with my own story, the one I own, and have never hidden from anyone? Of course I once owed a bunch of money in taxes; who in life has not had some setback? The difference between you and me Todd is that I once owned a business and closed it owing a lot of money in taxes, never hid it, and paid every red cent back over the next 7 years. I am proud of that. I didn't become some rabid anti-government, anti-tax, nut job, because it was MY responsibility and I owned it.

That's what we want people to do in life, own their responsibility. Can you say the same? I don't think you can.

    Cartoon........

    1. Steve Frisch, you are a flake man, owning a debt of money you failed to pay which was in your trust for your employees is now in your mind somehow a badge of courage? No, you are a person who spews his hate for anyone who you disagree with and you prove it all the time. I simply gave pointed out your utter hypocrisy and in your tortured mind you try and justify your scofflaw behavior. So, keep patting yourself on the back for your tax dodging regarding your restaurant. That dog doesn't fight in the real world.

You are simply a buffoon cartoon. Oops, that rhymes. What a hoot.
