Seventeen-year-old Trayvon Martin

There is an uproar in America about this tragedy,  maybe a murder, maybe not, and I just want to interject this.  It is a act by a single person on another person and not an indictment of anything larger regarding race relations in our country.  In my view,  the killing of this young man is unacceptable in a civilized country.  It is not a white on black issue.  Apparently the shooter, Mr. Zimmerman, is half white and half Peruvian.  So it has to be simply a bad decision by a man who should perhaps not have been carrying a weapon.

With Al Sharpton heading down to Florida stir things up, my fear is people will not wait for  all the facts and do something stupid to further aggravate the situation.  I think protesting the killing of this young man is perfectly within the rights of anyone who thinks and says this was wrong.  What should not be exploited (but it already has been) is a black/white/Hispanic racial issue.  Too many hucksters in the race baiting game exploit the differences of people simply because they are a different color of skin pigment.  This should not be listened to.  The killing should be investigated thoroughly to get to the truth and we all want justice.  It appears to me Trayvon was killed by a person on a power trip because he had a gun in his hands.

So America needs to mourn the loss of the young man.  America needs to fully investigate the killing.  America needs to take a deep breath and count to ten. Do  not let the race hustlers stir up the hate in their hearts and infect the rest of us.

  1. Mr. Juvinall, while you addressed Trayvon's killing in an objective piece--according to facts currently known--you dd not address the broader issue with constitutional implications and historical linkage: That of the claim of self defence on the theory of 'Stand your Ground'. I bring this up because there was a different standard based in English common law and also accepted in the colonies regarding weapons and self-defence. It was called 'flee to the wall', which means one was expected to make a run for it and NOT just stand there and shoot someone if you felt threatened. This is not my opinion, but established precedent.

    1. I'll "flee to the wall" since I don't know about that tactic as of yet. "Stand you ground" was used by Zimmerman as his reason and I don't agree with that position as of the facts I have read. Perhaps he should have fled.

  2. Amazing! First Peritzy pops off about the constitution and then sites English common law and what was accepted in the colonies.

Typical liberal. Just rants stuff that he thinks fits his purpose. No logic involved. So full of himself he is blinded looking inward.

    Fool!

    2. I agree with most of your post Todd. But I think you're fooling yourself if you believe that there was no racial element to what happened that night. Boy are you right about Al Sharpton . . whenever he shows up the circus comes to town. Did any of the rest of you think " . . a hispanic Jew?!? What?!" lol I don't care WHAT race or color Mr Zimmerman is, he fatally shot an unarmed teenager who was guilty of absolutely nothing . . he should have been arrested that night. He would have been released on bail and the D.A. would be determining if he should stand trial for his actions. But at least his grieving family, friends and schoolmates would feel their loss was recognized by SOMEBODY. This guy is a nobody (nothing exceptional, I mean), why is he receiving so much protection?? It's like you merely utter the phrase "Stand Your Ground" and you become untouchable. Have you ever in your life seen a case being tried in the press like this one is? Watching the weasel lawyers and character witnesses (on both sides) squirm, convulse and make $hit up is just sickening. (The more I think about it ol' Billy was right, let's kill all the lawyers!, kill 'em tonight! ~ Don Henley) The whole damn thing is just shamefully sad and unfortunate and can never be made right. Most of us know someone who is 17, still in high school, recently was or soon will be. That they could be erased from this Earth one night over nothing, never to come home again . . it's a thought I can't stay with for long.
