We know the he...Paul, we disagree totally on this. We know the health issues of mercury and in the state it is not a health problem as regards the rivers and streams. Gold dredgers recovered lots of it for free but the state said they would be arrested if they did it. Now isn't that stupid?

Gold is used in many things on the earth and it is where you find it. As long as humans value it it will be sought after. The Empire Mine "cleanup" was a crock. We all played in that water when we were kids and no one I know has ever been affected. But hey, the local eco's said it does and the state spent millions on it and for what? So they close the park? Really smart. Not! Regarding jobs. I think every private sector job is worth pursuing. Look at what our county has become as a primarily government county. Anyway, we could not disagree more Paul.Todd Juvinallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11273611043872087559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4649343161125212318.post-72033011520148673992015-02-23T09:07:22.124-08:002015-02-23T09:07:22.124-08:00PS.. Our lakes, rivers, and streams are loaded with mercury and many have "don't eat the fish warnings. Unfortunately no research has ever been done to determine to what degree human health is effected by the toxins. Just look at the Empire Mine Park and all the issues related to its cleanup. And while gold is used in electronics, 85% of all the gold mined in the world goes to bling. So the apparent tradeoff is that people get cancers and other diseases so that some rapper can have a gold grill. It simply is not worth it and that is why gold mining, especially around here, is over as a viable industry. The IMM is like the keystone pipeline… foreign companies coming in and polluting while taking most of the money out of the country and leaving the cleanup and disease for the locals in exchange for a few jobs. Keystone, after construction is said to provide only 35 permanent maintenance jobs.Harry Bushnoreply@blogger.com
